I think Forza graphics are stunning but the damage is very unrealistic. Running into a wall at 100+ mph should disable the car, not have the front bumper fall off. Being rammed from someone doing 200 mph and the side mirrors pop off? It’s weird honestly. What this game needs is soft-body dynamics. Which will allow crumpled hoods, twisted chassis, wobbly tires etc. I’m not a destructive individual, But it would introduce a major emphasis on realism.
And of course making a pit stop will fix all that up.
I have to assume the damage modelling is limited due to the licensing arrangements with the respective car manufacturers, as they tend to not like seeing their cars smashed up in video games. Only game with licensed real world cars I can remember getting around it in recent years, was the first Grid game by codemasters.
Not sure what’s happening in your game, but in most cars I’ve driven in Forza 7, hitting a wall at significant speed severely damages the engine. It still technically runs, but it won’t get any higher than 1000 or 2000 RPM. The car is completely limped and unusable at that point.
More than anything I’d love to see more tire and wheel damage. Clipping a nasty kerb really hard or riding a wall in some cars should tear up your tires, but aside from road wear, the tires are indestructible.
Hear, hear! Some slightly more realistic crash physics would be greatly appreciated–or set damage to more than just “cosmetic” in the public lobbies, at least! Sheesh! If for no other reason, than to hopefully discourage some of the rammers, pinballers, and other first-turn ***clowns that go cannonballing around every turn, using other players as their guardrails to make a pass.
Now, I’ve not put in a lot of miles yet in Forza, and I’ll admit I’ve bumped and banged some other players at times–but not intentionally, and I’d readily apologize when I do (if I had a mic), or slow for the other player to recover accordingly. But when the griefers start ramming you on a straightaway just because you’re passing them, or other such stupidity–it gets ridiculous.
