Blurred cockpit view is real. Looks good

First of all, forgive me for creating a thread about something that futile but here goes…

If you lap Spa Francorchamps and watch the replay, you’ll notice that, for a few seconds, the cockpit view is blurred, specifically the dashboard, leaving the rest “clear”. It’s actually pretty great and enhances the immersion. I think it would be great as a feature, so yeah, this is kind of a wish-thread-thingy.

Here’s a pic:

That is all. Thank you.

You know what would be really cool? If the cockpit view wasn’t from the back seat…
You’re welcome. That is all.

I would agree with you except whenever t10 modifies the view you loose usefulness of rear and side mirror. Both of which really help in collision league racing.

Back in the days with the antiquated hardware you could set your field of view. This would help immensely with a few of the cars where it feels like you’re resting your chin on the steering wheel.

Yeah, in the older games the view was too close. lol
A slider would be nice though, adjust to taste, but it does change how the game feels. Which is why I think they set it as unchangeable.

Check the E46 M3 out which is constantly blurred even when stationary lol. Very realistic xD

With the older iterations of Forza (and with pCars) I used the FOV Calculator. It does limit peripheral vision (which is why FOV adjustment was only available when you enabled multiple displays), but adds to more realistic depth perception. The nice thing about pCars is you can set a variable field of view - You set the low end from 0 to a preset speed, then a higher angle at a set speed and higher. This way, when you are navigating slower, tighter corners with traffic, you can actually judge the distance from other cars, then as you accelerate you get the sensation of being pinned back in the seat and it’s easier to see the mirrors. I think I have the low end set at 50mph and the high at 140mph. Not sure on the angles though. pCars also has the option to shift focus at higher speeds, but it makes it difficult to read the MOTEC on long, high speed straights when checking fuel levels, etc, so I typically skip that option.

FH2: Fast & Furious had a similar visual effect as it trotted imperceptibly to tunnel vision. It felt cinematic, not realistic, which made speeding around France all the more thrilling.

Actually, this happens in every race replay when the camera automatically goes to cockpit view (camera mode set to race replay), you’ll see the dash blurring and the driver’s eyes fixed on the road. Pretty cool and would love to see this view in the next FM game or possible an update.

Also, I’ve noticed during the race replay views, at certain points the cam angle shifts to bumper, and this is the REAL and proper bumper cam perspective as it sits very close to the road (unlike the normal race bumper cam perspective). Anyone notice it? I certainly did! Was the same with FM5 - the auto bumper cam angle in replays that pops up only on certain areas of the track sits very close to the road like it should and gives a hair-raising sense of speed.

Hope to see the cockpit blurred view AND (finally) a proper bumper cam in Forza!

Someone did an overlay comparison of the different viewing angles (I don’t think it was FM6, may have been 3 or 4), but when it cycled from cockpit to hood to bumper, the only thing that changed was the representation of the car presented to the driver, while you would think that moving from cockpit to hood would move you forward, and switching to bumper would move you further forward still.
