Hey there. I haven’t been on the forums for many moons.
My question is in regard to moving to the next gen console from FM4 without missing out on past content, Turn 10 and VIP gifts etc.
Is there a particular pathway that would yield more of what i may have missed out on in regard to gifted unicorns etc.
Should I buy and play FM5 and Horizon series first? Is it still possible to purchase limited edition copies for exclusive cars?
Although FM5 was a really good game, I’d just jump straight into FM6. FM6 has everything FM5 had plus more tracks and cars. Some cars did not make it from FM5 to FM6 such as the Corvette C6R as instead FM6 has the C7R, so just little things like that. So yeah I’d say just jump into FM6, there’s probably only 1 year left of that before FM7 comes out, so may as well save the little time you have catching up on FM6.
Limited Edition was just that - limited unless a retailer still has copies in stock. I’d skip VIP as credits are really easy to come by, and you won’t get any of the VIP cars that have already been gifted. Get the Car Pass for the initial 5 or 6 car pack DLC that occurred then pick and choose the rest, including Porsche & Nascar expansions, as desired
enter the League competitions to get the Porsche and Nascar packs, that’ll save you about £50. You just missed out on chance for 6 Season car pass unfortunately.
I’ll jump in on the horizon side. Not sure if you played the 360 version of Horizon 2 or not, but if you have get the Xbox one version anyway. I played both versions to completion. 2 on xbox one is different, much better (visually and content) just feels like a different game. Even after the 360 version I played the heck out of it!
I also jumped from 4 to 6 because i didn’t have a one at the time for 5, i went backwards after. Like others said VIP really isn’t needed except if you want the cars, credits are like candy dropping from the dang sky! 6 is great, i love it.
lately i’ve been playing forza 5 and at first i was kinda… man this is a shell, but over time for the rewards and achievements the grind of it isn’t so bad. I recommend getting 5 as well if you can find it cheap, get the pass and vip for that. It is a massive grind compared to 6 but i’ve enjoyed it. 6 is definitely better in terms of fun and enjoyment. 5 feels like it’s a test but you keep doing it. Much more content in 6.
If your ultimate goal is to end up playing Forza 6 then why spend money on other games? You won’t get any previously gifted unicorns, and the tier reward cars are cars that are also purchasable in-game.
Turn 10 has always been good at not punishing those who take a break from the series for awhile. You aren’t going to miss out on anything important by skipping Forza 5 and Horizon 1 & 2, so just pick back up with Forza 6 and continue from there.
Thx for all the replies fellas. I have played the series from the beginning on 360 but held off the investment of console, wheel and game when FM5 was released to see how it was reviewed. I heard more bas about it than good… The bad being the game was only a shell of FM4 and the good being how pretty it was. Being Australian it took some restraint with Bathers and many of our own home grown muscle appearing. FM6 is also in the same vein and now FH3 is set in Australia and Asset Cora being released soon I feel I’m missing out on too much.
So I’m just trying to gauge the best pathway into the FM series on the XB1 without missing to much of what I want as far as cars.
