Im wondering what the best prototype car is including DLC cars. I was thinking it was the audi, then i heard something about the mazda being amazing? Anyone know what a good well rounded LMP car is?
By far it’s the Mazda 787B. It just owns the leaderboard. On longer tracks, it’s the Sauber C9. It has unbeilevable top end. Now those are techically Group C cars not LMPs, but they are classed with them in Forza Lemans. In my opion the best “LMP” car is the Cadilac. With the right tune, it is a great car to drive.
The 787B and C 9 are neck and neck in R1, but in X class the C 9 can set a faster lap on just about every track. Don’t disregard the Peugeot 905C in X class, either. It’s arguably faster than the Mazda, but it’s harder to find a good tune. However, if we’re going on the basis of separation of Group C and LMP, then the best LMP car would probably be the JH ARX-02a. In X class, it is honestly comparable to the 787B. Here’s how I would rank the LMP cars from best to worst:
- Acura ARX-02a
- Acura ARX-01b
- Audi R18 TDI
- Ferrari F333 SP
- BMW V12 LMR
- Cadillac LMP-02
- Audi R8
- Aston Martin AMR One
- Mazda B09/86
- Honda Lola
- Panoz LMP-01
- Toyota GT-One
- Chevy FLM09
- Bentley Speed 8
- Aston Martin Lola
- Porsche RS Spyder
- Peugeot 908
- Audi R10 TDI
- Audi R15(++) TDI
It’s a shame that the only good diesel in R1 is the R18… Don’t let this list fool you, though. All of the cars are very close, and one is just slightly better than the other. All of the cars from 1-15 are fiercely competitive with each other, but some are more competitive in R1 than X because of how few upgrades they have left by the time they reach 998 PI. The Bentley is honestly my R1 car of choice, and it runs great lap times if you tune it, but that goes for any of these. Just avoid using 16-19 and you’ll be in a great car.
