Is there a fix or solution for the issue of me being taken out of party chat by default to game chat everytime I try to do an online race. Quite annoying having to switch back to party chat every. Time.

Not at this time.
Next to the inability to buy a car without parts you don’t want, this is the stupidest thing about this game.
I don’t go to game chat because 99% of the time there’s some a-hole with an open mic/kinect blasting annoying music or talking to people in their room.
Also 99% of the time I’m racing with friends and we are already in a party and don’t want to talk to randoms.

Or in my case earlier today, some white dude talking like he’s from the hood (yo) screaming the N word every 5 seconds.

Er what? You can buy a car at any time with stock parts. I don’t know why people keep making this claim because its entirely false. Stop buying them on the pre-race screen where they have pre-set parts for the series they are in. Buy them from the main menu and stop making a baseless claim.
@OP no known fix at this time. Im still waiting on the “mute all” function. I have zero interest to listen to pre-pubescent teens scream down the mic, nor people coughing spluttering or sneezing.
That’s the only place you can buy them with stock parts. However, at level up and at the specialty dealer you do not have the option to purchase them stock.
However, I’m not complaining when I get a free car with extra parts at level up!

My “solution” was to change my xbox live privacy settings so that only friends can talk to me over the microphone or send me messages. It’s not great, but it beats having to listen to screaming children and random noises in every single lobby. It’s not like you have time to manually mute the offenders in the middle of a race, and I’ve found that the mute function actually doesn’t always work either.

They need to adress this asap, this is such a waste of time.
Nobody wants to be in gamechat, it’s stupid to force us in there.
There is an option to select between game chat and party chat when you hit the RT after entering multiplayer but unfortunately it doesn’t work.
