I can sorta drift (been trying to get better at it since FM 5) but don’t really know how to truly set up a basic tune from which I can continue to tweak until its just right. Can anyone recommend some basic settings that I could use to get started? I mean, its cool that I can download drift tunes for cars but I can’t adjust those from other players and from what I can tell, everyone has their own style and tunes that work great for them but possibly not for everyone.
I tend to like to drift in JDM vehicles though I am currently loving my AMG swapped, Widebody M4 and the M3 I won from the street races.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Tolsmir, a noobish drifter trying to get better
Low tire pressure in the front high in the back, negative front camber, negative rear camber is optional, little bit of toe out in the front and rear, soft anti roll bars, soft springs, soft bump stiffness, soft rebound stiffness, 100% diff for acceleration and deceleration.
Add me and I will try to go I little more into detail. DominicBourneLG
Low tire pressure in the front, High pressure in the back? Are you sure?
Seems to be different to any guides out there and a little counter intuitive. I always set my cars with lower pressure on the back, since air as it gets hotter expands, and keeping rear tires hot when drifting isn’t a problem, so with the view that optimal tire pressure is usually 32psi, I always tend to set mine around 27.5-28 psi, front at 31-32 psi.
The basic difference between a beginner’s drift build and an expert’s one is the use of different tire compounds in combination with different horsepower levels. A beginner’s drift build usually has plenty of power (above 600bhp) and kinda gripy tires, aka sport or even race tires sometimes. That makes them super predictable when trying to get big angles, but speed can be an issue.
Search for a 1997 BMW M3 drift build I’ve done, it follows that logic. The title is “M3 Drift”, keywords are “Drift” and “Beginner”. Creator is the same as my gamertag of course.
