So, first off, I am new to gaming in general =)
How long does it take to qualify for autumn? It feels like I have been driving around for ever trying to collect influence.
Is there any way to see how much influence I have?. Am I missing something? (I have been tuning my car, modifying it etc)

IIRC, it tells you on the map screen how much influence you need to qualify for the next Showcase or the next season. You have to get through all 4 seasons to join the main game.
You earn influence by racing, you have a certain amount of available races and other events (such as speed traps) to choose from and if you need to you can re-race them to earn more influence.
There’s really no need to upgrade your car until you get to the main game, when you’ve qualified in every season. (Personal opinion)
By that time you should have enough money and gained a few cars from wheelspins (hopefully) to take you quite far. (I pretty much did the entire game in the 05’ Subaru WRX before buying and upgrading cars)
Gaining influence by finding every influenceborad on the map is another great way to level up fast. (Not sure if those are available in the pre-game)
If i remember right you need to do 4 races, first chapter of the horizon story and first danger sign and you should have enough influence to get in autumm season. totally all of that take less than hour.
Influence signs are in the qualifying seasons. There are a few 5,000 point ones which will get you going quick, like the end at the south end of the beach, the one in the river at the south border of the map, and the one with the train tunnel between Arthur’s Seat and Bamburgh.
If you have any Car Packs or Car Pass, dowloading those free cars will earn you influence as well.
Autoshow opens in autumm season (after you do first race in autumm season keira sais “i just want to you know autoshow is now open” Is influence boards allready before autumm seasons that i dont remember.
Not sure what some of you mean. I only have one map to plot routes on, no different kind of races.

One of my pet peeves for FH4, during the prologue it was rather confusing and not as straightforward or well explained as in previous games.
During the prologue the only place was the upper right hand corner of your screen it tells you how much you have and how much will be needed to qualify for i.e. Autumn, Showcase event, etc.
Influence boards = small rectangular purple/blue with “I” icon.
Fast travel boards = " " " " " “lightning bolt” icon.

You need 23k more influence, i try to explain full roadmap how to get in autumm series, when you start game and exit festival press map button (left side button right under that xbox button) you should then see two blue icons and one of those is very close very you are, drive in that point and stop there, in left side of screen should now show
“road racing
horizon festival
(x) setup event” then press x button and you get in your first actual race.
After first race is done game introduce “anna” to you that you will use to get second race destination. (ambleside sprint)
After second race is done you get cutscene, then in map show up yellow icon what have helmet inside, drive there and you will start your first horizon story, when you get first chapter finnish in horizon story, game should tell to meat alex, so you need to drive there (orange icon on the map) so you get dirt racing series going on. (tarn hows scramble)
and when that race is finnish, open map once again and there is another orange icon so you need to go there, (between that destination is “danger sign” (is marked on map red and white triangle with exclamation mark inside) drive thruw those orange flags that indicate where that danger sign is, and continue in that orange icon (ambleside scramble) when you finnish that race you should have enough influence to get in autumm season, and when you finnish that race you shuold hear that he want to gives reward to you helping make a film and now in map should have purple icon with house picture, drive there and you will buy you first house and when you do that game transfer in autumm season.

Just try and complete everythiing on the map. You’ll complete it in no time.
Dont waste time buying and tuning cars and just hooning around, you will just delay the whole game being opened up.

Glad to see this thread; I’ve been a casual XBox gamer for a long time but I find this game tough to understand in terms of how you progress past the initial practice world.
This was my 1st Horizon game, even though I’ve been racing online (PC) for decades. For as much content as is available I have never played a game with a worse introduction to what exactly one is supposed to be doing. Career mode…? Online adventure…? Trials vs The Trial…? car tuning…? saving/loading tunes…? blueprints…? …it was months before I even knew what these were. And there are many more on my list, these just came off the top of my head. I probably spent as much time in the 1st two weeks combing these shockingly slow forums for any scrap of info to lead me in the right direction. For a $70 game I was highly disappointed with the beginning…where is the in-game help?
On the other hand, I more recently played Horizon 3 and was absolutely thrilled about the intro to most of the aspects of the game. I guess FH3 should be a prerequisite to FH4.
I have given up trying to qualify! Too boring! A waste of money! Why can`t you just race?!!
