I don’t know if its because this is my first simulation game and i have alot bad habbits i shouldn’t have using no assists. i feel on alot of tracks im breaking harder locking the car so it stops to desired speeds if i try to find the sweet spot i just fail. i feel some corners i slow down to much and i have no mastered throttle control
got a few friends and i try to listen to there tips but i just can’t seem to grasp it i try to keep up behind them in there lines but they always get so far ahead i can’t see where there breaking or really judge the lines there taking
having such hard time learning every track as i play career too.
how can i get faster and learn the correct breaking techniques and proper thorttle control i try not to get the wheels to speed out in mid turn so idont over steer and drift or just have car push me into a bad exit but i feel like that is also slowing me down.
my buddy drives with only abs on nothign else and hes a good 10 second ahead o fme on each track same tune same car him telling me get into about 70 here yadada 3rd gear yyadada but dont seem to help me.
starting to get frustrated and discouraged.
i really need to learn the tracks and find someone whose good at seeing what im doing wrong and showing me the correct method’s to fixing said issue.
You ought to focus on one thing at a time and note that adapting to some assists off can take a good few days of hard work each. I’d say one of the most important is mastering manual with clutch so get that done if you haven’t already. TCS off depends on the car really, you’d want it on for some higher class ones or powerful mid class ones, etc. ABS was the last thing I took off and it was the hardest. But yeah, focus on one thing at a time. I can probably help you live in lobbies, if you ever catch me online just gimme a shout.
I hear ya. I turned off everything except traction control at this point. I’m trying to understand braking and all that too. I think the thing I struggle with the worst is how to best take a corner and how to exactly do it. Because the stick is a little touchy and sometimes hard to really get the car where I really want it. I’m getting better though. I think I do OK with throttle control but it’s a whole lot easier on cars that don’t have gobs of power to spin the wheels.
one thing that helped me(and still does) was to go into rivals and chase a ghost that is a little faster than you and watch the line they take. make your adjustments where you see that they are gaining time on you. try a couple different ghost to see the different lines they take (just because they are a little faster then you does’nt mean they are using the best line on every corner) and also watch replays on the fast guys.
When watching a replay of a faster driver switch the camera view from replay to game camera, then choose the view you would normally race with. This will give you a better look at their braking points and the line they take through turns . Trying to race a faster ghost will also work if you can keep up to them. Hope this helps…OTG
I strongly suggest you keep the braking line on for now. It is a monumental task to learn the optimal braking point for every corner on every track. Your focus right now should be on car control and learning the lines around the tracks.
Do not be ashamed to use assist if you feel you need them. That’s what they are there for. It’s fine to “jump into the fire” and try to learn to run without them, but as you have found it can be quite discouraging. Take them off slowly, as you get a better feel for the cars and driving mechanics. The whole idea is to make the game enjoyable. If you are always struggling, you aren’t having that much fun, are you?
ABS is a matter of choice. I personally have never used it, as I find I can brake much more effectively without it. I have friends who are top drivers though that won’t race without it. Which ever way you go, stick with it and learn the braking characteristics.
As mentioned above, use TCS on the higher powered cars for now. Wheelspin can be addressed with tuning, but if you don’t tune your cars you may need it. As you get better with your throttle control, you can begin to run without it more.
STM, in my opinion is useless. You won’t need it.
Follow the above advice on replays and ghost. It is a great tool for learning the techniques of faster drivers. While watching replays, bring the telemetry screen up so you can see braking and throttle points, and gear changes. Whenever possible, try to have the same car and relative set up, as it’s most effective that way. I believe there are LB’s that use stock cars, so all will be equal in that respect. Pick drivers who are only slightly faster than you to start, then move on as you get faster.
lots of good advice here… I’ve gotten to where I have no assists and manual tranny (minus the clutch for now) and just today started to work on finding my own line… turning off the braking line only.
Since it seems that all of the top 300-400 of any leaderboard folks drive with the manual w/clutch, I’ll be taking a shot at that soon.
When I made the switch from Auto Tranny, with TCS/ABS. I started by practicing driving manual, shortly after that I started looking into tuning my cars, and with that TCS and ABS when away. I turned Assisted Steering/Braking off pretty quickly as I had experience racing Gran Turismo 1-4, then Forzas 2 and 3.
Try turning off different assists on a track you like and see how it effects your performance. Apart from that, practice is the only other thing that helps!
TCS specific - something to think about - the way I understand it, the TCS only comes on when needed, when you make a mistake - if so, wouldn’t it seem to reason that if you can drive with TCS turned on AND never see it activate (light up on your dial) = you’re getting better ;^)
if you like to hoon, turn it off.
thanks guys i know its just practice i have a few top 200 drivers who cruise with me. they help. jus wish i could be constant.
Hey I’m looking
for someone to race. send me a friend request on xbox live, I still play forza 2,3,4 and horizon. In my opinion I like forza 4 the best,I’ll be getting the xbox one soon and forza 5 ,I’ll still play forza 4 though
Yes I agree, I have a hard time too with assists. I only shift on drags though lol
run with abs until you see that the abs lights blinks on and off at that point you can turn it off and you probably wont know the difference. i found out i didn’t needed back in fm2 by accident because the host had turned off abs and i dint realize it till many track later wen i locked up.
