A terrible crash involving Chaz Mostert put a somber mood over pit lane today. Chaz has a Broken Leg and Wrist and a marshal suffered chest injuries. All thoughts are with the families of Chaz and all five marshals involved. The event put a dampener on an magnificent lap by Jamie Wincup, the 888 Racing star recording a 2:04:900!!! All things point towards a great race come Sunday.
Good luck to Chaz and the Marshals for a speedy recovery.

Note: Latest reports are there were 7 marshals on site. 3 escaped injury. 3 with minor injuries. 1 with chest injuries - there have been reports/rumors this martial may have passed away but all info I have found points to this info being false/incorrect. He was taken to hospital and the last credible reports are he is in a stable condition.
Man that’s terrible. I love watching the V8’s but I’m from the UK so we don’t tend to get much news on it only highlights of the race.

Yeah pretty bad crash definitely will put him out of the title hunt this year. Cam Waters will have a nice drive for the next few rounds if not the rest of the year. Peace
Yeah, that car was destroyed, and all from a seemingly light brush with the wall.
Just shows what can happen when you misjudge by even the slightest amount. Luckily the important parts of the car kept him relatively safe, and the marshalls managed to avoid serious injury from the look of it.
So the good news is Chaz is on the mend in hospital and the marshal that was injured hopes to be back at the track today. Not so good news is the weather, rain and the chance of thunder storms. The mountain can be very unforgiving when wet so we may be in for a race of high attrition and lots of pace cars.
Fingers crossed for a good race and lets hope we have seen the last of the injuries.
