Dirt trial, complete mess of a team. I used the Porsche with a Don Joewon but it wasn’t very good. Sorry. It did not help I was being knocked all over the place. We won so whatever. I think it was 2 trails and a circuit. First try but it was a miracle. I’ll probably do it again. Got lucky in games 4 on 3 and they quit 2nd round. Easy stuff. Only took about 100 min to do everything.
I’m sorry I don’t remember. Just getting it done and wasn’t paying attention. First one was a trail. I will try what you tune. That Hudson Hornet going for about 4 million if you want to sell it. I threw one up for a million. (probably gone)
Absolutely killed “The Trial” 3-0 on my second attempt, with three easy 1st places, using the “1984 Opel Manta 400” with my own “Perfect A800 AWD” tune, which is shared in case anyone wants to try it.
This was after struggling with the “2016 Subaru #199 WRX” on my first attempt, which was admittedly a rental with default values due to my own being S1-900 (which I only remembered after starting “The Trial”).
The lead AI car seems to be supersonic in this weeks trial and if you give it half a chance, it’s long gone!
So if you are struggling, check out the “Opel Manta 400”, as it’s an unlikely ■■■ kicker!
Not had a chance to try any of the races yet due to not feeling all that well post-Christmas, but I do have a suggestion for the Weekly Challenge. I actually started prepping for it on Tuesday, but I came to a conclusion that the 2014 Ford FPV Limited Edition Pursuit Ute (50,000 Cr at the Autoshow), tuned all the way up (which ran me 134,000 Cr). I even shared my tune for once (S17Aut Weekly).
My suggestion is to drive up and down the freeway for the 13.1 miles, then start going for Threading the Needles once the previous part is completed. I’ve seen with my tune that when you’ve got a good line it can get that jump 3 Stars almost every time. As usual, I did all the stunts with my Koenigsegg CCGT with no issues. (Used to use the Mosler before I had the CCGT). I’ll probably come back when I get the races sorted out and let you guys know how I did.
PR stunts : Upgraded Mosler, didn’t take much time. No tuning.
Weekly forzathon : Upgraded Transit FE. No tuning.
Championship “Better With Age” : Upgraded Bentley 8 Liter for handling and acceleration, no tuning.
Championship “Heading North” : Upgraded Warthog, no tuning.
Championship “You. Are. A. Toy!” : Upgraded Elise GT1, no tuning.
Since I have the day off today, I finished up the playlist. I’ve done everything except the PGG, and the upcoming dailies.
I took 3 passes at the Trial. First pass, using the Renault 5 Turbo FE, which I happened to have an A class tune on already. I missed a checkpoint 3 times early on. It was bad. I bailed out and went in again.
Second pass, I was doing pretty good, except for missing a couple checkpoints. But the real issue was teammates ramming me into walls.
Third attempt, I used the #199 Subaru WRX. I do not like the Subaru. Maybe with a better tune; I don’ tknow. Despite my team winning, I actually did much worse personally than I did in the Renault.
Better with Age, I used the Auto Union. I have a homologated tune from Forza 7 that came in low A class, so I started taking off parts until it fit in B. Those older cars are very slippery, so throttle control and knowing how to control a slide is essential.
I almost always use the Mosler for these. I don’t think there’s a speed trap or speed zone on asphalt that it can’t do at least enough to give you a seasonal, and it can do most danger signs too. If the Mosler can’t do it, use the Hoonigan RS200. Unless it’s a drift zone, and then you’re on your own.
I made a mistake with the car for the Better With Age championship. I used the Bentley barn find, which is I believe the Bentley 1/2 Supercharged. The car I thought I used is in the Rare Classics category I believe. Despite my hiccup, my build strategy is still the same.
Trial was very easy, used the stock Subaru and finished 4,5,4 only losing to 1 OP drivatar as has been mentioned already.
Being near the back for some time though I have to ask, do the Unbeatable drivatars near the back always turn into Pastor Maldonado? They could drive well but instead prefer crashing into everyone, I thought I was being trolled by another player in the last race only to see it was a drivatar in a stock Manta literally turning in towards me 3 times in 3 corners even though I was taking the outside line in all of them.
Won the Trial on the first try. Thankfully all the dead weight on our team quit after Race 1.
The Playground Games on the other hand had me pulling my hair out. You really need to upgrade your car before you enter. Retro muscles can’t grip in sand to save their lives with the stock RWD configuration. Thus, even one stock car on your team can put you at a significant disadvantage, and I somehow kept getting on the team with more stock cars.
Hmm, tried to enter the trial with a Capri FE but, despite it showing as A800 when I entered, it didn’t let me (after the event it showed up as 802 until I reloaded the tune). First time, I therefore had to do it in the rental. Wasn’t terrible and team won overall - finished 3rd, 6th and 3rd (second race my car managed to flip on the bumps near the end). Did the trial again actually in the Capri and was 1st, 4th and 1st (got pushed round a checkpoint by a teammate in the second one).
Generally, these courses aren’t ideal for the trial. Whilst I like them, they require some skill to drive properly. The result is that most teammates don’t brake properly for corners and use any cars there as brakes - think I got smashed by a teammate early on in all six races. Somewhat frustrating as they are then in front and generally hold you up (given I try and avoid hitting them) until they usually crash out.
the sadist with the vintage race cars… )&&* them those things handle like hot garbage atm. idk they did but i test both in a race and neither one can drive in a straight line . trail and pg not gotten to yet. any idea on speed zone car???
@dogwitch Have you tried an AWD swapped Bentley 8 Liter? Mine was upgraded for max acceleration and handling. While it completely lacks in top speed, it handles like a dream and will make your life easier. One of the races will be harder because of the lack of top speed, but you can get in first quickly and block the AI.
In terms of car choice for the trial, I would recommend either the Renault 5 FE or the Opel. The Capri FE is perfectly capable of winning if you have it but isn’t as good as those two cars. In my experience, the Subaru, Peugeot and Porsche are weaker.
I did the Trial, and the Playground games, and the Eliminator for the first time ever, because I got Gold to test them out for Christmas. Playground Games, and the Trial are easy, I don’t know what all the fuss is about. Eliminator is quite hard, I came 7th.
