Why are the bidding options not always balanced?
(Example, the max I can put a RX-7 for sale is 100ishK and people have them posted for 1mil+? Not that I care to auction a car that high, I’m just curious.
Is it really necessary for people to go into the AH and buy HE cars for half mills then repost them for 1mil+? I know that’s how some people make their money since they were able to use all the exploits before being subsequently patched while the rest of us have grind it out, but some people are seriously ridiculous buying multiples of the same HE car just to mark them up. Especially, since I’m sure most of them have more money than they’ll ever be able to spend anyway.
If you are a legendary tuner or painter you can put cars up for higher buyouts.
Its the way it is. Every game and even in the real world people make money by buying low and selling high. If you want one for yourself just try to be the person that buys low.
Yeah, that’s what I generally do. I know flipping cars is just what people do. I even did it for a while IRL. I just hadn’t seen people do it with multiples of the same exact car. I typically just keep bidding on a few (not simultaneously) and I can usually end up with one somewhat cheaper after a while.
It was always a problem with the auction house last-gen, which is why I had mixed feelings about it. I typically used auction house early on when you could actually just save money on cars but once 99% of the auctions became stuff people relisted at high prices it became practically useless to me. When someone posted something low, ten people wait for the last-minute bid war which drags on for an hour because everyone tries waiting to the last second to bid as if nobody else knows they’re doing that. They’re just delaying the inevitable and wasting time. Last-gen, auctions ended up with everything listed either 0.1% below retail or even above value, both of which makes it a waste of time. If I want a 10,000,000 car, buying it for 9,999,900 isn’t worth even loading into the auction house, and I’m definitely not buying it for 11,000,000, but that’s what it became.
Now, if I want a car, I’ll get its value and see if I can buy it cheaper in the auction house. If not, I buy retail. I generally don’t bother bidding because every time I do I end up in that bid war which is a waste of my time. I’d rather be racing versus spending half an hour exchanging high bids.
Yeah, that is how I feel, also. Being new to Forza, I was thinking the AH as an awesome concept. Not to say it isn’t but I did have pause once I found out this has been a staple in Forza games for some time. Someone builds a system and it’s only a matter of time before it is abused or manipulated.
Most often, cars generally price far more than they’re worth. Yeah. I know tuning cost money but some cars I’d like to just buy sans their “handiwork”. Particularly ones that aren’t obtainable other than through pure luck like a wheelspin.
I know that bidding on cars is the nature of the auction beast but I don’t want to bid war with people either - driving up a price far higher than it should be. I don’t sell much in there either since nothing really does besides HE or some vehicle that’s trending. I typically just remove them from my garage or pass it over in that month’s car pack.
I will try for a car that I’m really wanting but I won’t pay an exorbitant amount of money for it. I’ll bid a couple of times and if it just keeps climbing, then I just exit out and go back to racing, designing, or cruising.
