I had a YouTube in my recommended earlier and it seems things changed in a recent update. Now (so the claim is) when you buy a car at auction, even if the previous owner has filled in / used up some of those perks, you get it with all fresh perks ready for you to use if you like. I recall that being a suggestion for ages. Nice ! No more stripped cars in the auction house ! I wonder if that applies to gift cars too ?

…because it also works if you don’t sell your car at auction ! Yes, that’s right, and I tried it and it works. Go ahead and use the perks you want on the car then dump it in the auction house and if it doesn’t sell when you reclaim it, all the perks are refreshed, ready to rinse and repeat. Hmm, how long is that going to last ? lol Sure, we don’t get the points refunded like was happening once way back (broken, yeah, but sweet while it lasted lol) but this could be a way to spend some of those Skill Mastery points cluttering up your file

I found the opposite recently.
Yes, cars that don’t sell always seem to come back with all perks available again but that has been the case for the whole time.
But I used to buy cars from the AH that were also clean (don’t know if that’s the way they were put up though) but recent purchases have had the perks missing - like they always were in FH4.
Not complaining as that was what I always expected, just like previous Horizon games but odd that you’re getting the opposite. I suppose I could sell something and ask the buyer how it came in as I normally take the perks before dumping them just in case it doesn’t sell and I don’t really want it back. My main goal is to clear my garage of the hundreds of duplicates that keep getting thrown at us with no option to sell back - that goes for Festival reward cars as well…
Interesting indeed. When I was buying at auction, way back, I’d usually get duds with the perks filled in. To the point I stopped bothering. I haven’t bought anything in a long while.
Like you I’m now avoiding duplication usually and clearing the garage when I can, sometimes auction, sometimes gifting, more often just taking any good perks and deleting. I try to only sell at auction if it’s a clean car, all perks available, though now I can (if true) use some perks and sell with a clear conscience lol.
I’ll need to test it out. Unless already taken, I usually just go for the XP as that’s the only thing left of any real interest. CR, FP, WS - got too many to be worried about collecting anymore.
I bought 4 or 5 90 Mazda rx7s that looked used (painted/tuned/cheap/multiple by same seller/etc) and they were all empty. So I bought one I had confirmed was used and after claiming it was empty. It’s the only car with another car in the perks, the twerkstallion that’s not in the autoshow tmk. I can’t think of anything else that would be really desirable.
It’s a nice improvement to the AH. I always felt it was crappy to get a car with the perks used that would benefit me.
To my knowledge gifts were always reset. All of the Willys, Caymans and T/As I received were always empty with SWSs available.
I always collect gift cars and I’ve never had one that has had any perk slots filled. Wonder if that’s relevant. I’m sure they’ll prioritise non-beneficial bugs - especially those imported from H4 - when it comes to this situation.
