Auction Buyout Too Low

I put a lot of effort into making a custom paint job for the Nissan 270 Z and wanted to see what it would fetch at auction, but the maximum buyout I can place is 230k. I spent more than that between buying the car and the Rocket Bunny conversion. Why is there such a low limit on a car that costs 150k on its own? Why is there a limit at all? Kind of defeats the purpose of an auction. I see other cars going for millions. Do I have to build up to that point?

All my hundred questions aside, does anyone know how to fix this?

The limits are in place because of all the problems/abuse, the last time we had an AH (In FM4).

No one to thank, but the players ourselves. Maybe if everyone treats the AH w/ respect this time around, it’ll get better in future titles (but we all know that’s not gonna happen).

I sure hope it changes. I can understand that the system can be abused but it’s strange to me that each car has a different limit. As I said before, the stock version of this car is 150 thousand and the Rocket Bunny conversion is another 90-100, making the 230k buyout a loss. If there has to be a limit in place, I think it should be the same for all cars. I saw a Sylvia go for 1.5 million.

Just specify no buy out cost. You could do it on fm 4. Camt test that yet because im not on the pc

I wish I could but I don’t see that as an option. No matter how I configure it there’s a buyout price of some kind.

The buyout cost is I believe is 110% of the SF value.

What’s a little unfair is that the limit is 110% for most cars but the HW cars can have a 5 or 10 million limit much higher than the actual SF value of the car, plus upgrades, and some bonus for being HE.

Not to mention Barn Finds, which are practically worthless yet can still be auctioned for millions. Makes the whole ‘But exploits!’ excuse moot when people can easily use other cars to transfer per se large amounts of money if they wanted to.

On the other hand this is in some ways a silver lining to the whole issue of people being able to auction designs created by others on the Storefront - in many cases, such as this, it simply isn’t profitable enough to bother. Sadly that also applies to the painters themselves though.

That’s where I’m at. I spent about 12 hours on this design. It might seem dumb but I was looking forward to seeing if it would cause a bidding war. Having a low ceiling really takes the fun out of it.

I don’t see what is the issue of exploits this time around. You can’t mod your game, so all the credits in the economy are from playing the game.
If someone wants to make 10 gamertags, and transfer the credits form one GT to another, they still need to spend the time playing the game, and accumulating the credits.

Worst thing imo: the buyout limit is roundabout 110 % of the cars worth, but you have to pay “fees” on every auction,so your benefits are 000!

hopefully the restrictions will go, i hate that they restrict the AH, back im FM2 everything had a value and if you could afford it you got LE paints tunes whatever and why not??? FM3 broke the mold with the dumb Sf restrictions and its been crap since then, please remove restrictions people should be free to price and lock or unlock their own work.

Is there any way to tell if the design of a vehicle being auctioned is a unique design as opposed to something available in a user’s storefront? I ask because I often see cool designs but I’m never willing to bid any higher because I always assume I can just go add the design or livery myself.

WHat if you do a design. Put it on a HE car. Now you can raise the buyout to 10,000,000 or whatever. Make sure you do not share it and inform people buying the car that it is a unique design. See how high you can go.
HE cars are pretty cheap 200-300k. and people still want them. And you get to see how much it’s really worth.

That’s a good idea.
I put my Fairlady up for sale with a starting bid of 80k and it sold for 110. I guess the ceiling didn’t matter. I tried to post some pictures of it here earlier but they took them out before it posted. I’m gonna try again, with just one picture this time.

Picture should be below this sentence:

Hey HellOnWheels, I don’t think the auction house is the best place to sell your car designs/liveries. I know you can save the design and put it in your marketplace and when someone dowloads it you get some credits. I don’t know how much or how the whole process works because I haven’t made any liveries. But after you put up your designs you could post in the “Paint Booth” forums with you gamer tag, what cars you’ve done, and maybe some pics. That way people can search for you to find your marketplace.

Back to the auction house. The reason I say it’s not a great place to sell designs is because I personally have never bought a car for it’s paint job. I don’t even buy based on the PI number. I always strip the car down and rebuild it to fit my driving style. I have kept some of the designs on the cars but that’s not why I bought the car.

I am looking for a design for my new Lambo Countach Horizon Edition though

Thanks for the idea Psyconn. This is my first Forza game so I’m still learning the ropes. I have spent quite a bit of time in the auction and you’re right, the designs are fun to look at, but they are not the reason I place a bid. I’ll check that forum out. Also, if I ever get a Countach for myself, I’ll see about coming up with a design for it. This game is a hell of a lot of fun. I’m so glad it came to PC.
