So, is there a limit to how many cars I can buy out in auction house? At first I thought people were beating me to it. But then I tried buying out crappy cars no one buys and still doesn’t let me.
I miss the old auction house, unlimited buys/sells. The Livery storefront is dismally paid as well. It’s quite absurd because something that used to make players rich now cripples them.
BRING BACK THE OLD AUCTION STYLE FROM FM4, THIS CURRENT METHOD IS ABSURD!
That boi Oldskool has it made though. I’ve seen a lot of people spamming the [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] out of clubs, both on XBL and Horizon 3, posting messages about “download my awesome tunes and/or paints” and 90% of the time their content, tunes, paints, everything is [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D]. While opinions differ widely from person to person, the majority rule doesn’t necessarily apply to this act since it’s only the numbers that count. In that sense it’s fine, but a lot of people are fed up with having to read and remove the same spam posts time and time again.
The thing with the Auction House ties deeply into the storefront thing I’ve rambled about above. Once you hit elite painter and/or tuner, you’ve got a long way to go before you hit legend status. But even at elite, you can still make a hefty profit from select cars. (Note the recently obtainable 918.) What was good about being at elite painter back when the game first launched is you were one of the first non-devs to be featured on the “elite designs” tab in the Auction House. A whole bunch of people have hit elite since then, especially recently, and I’ll say a majority of the designs I see when I use that function are decent (from a racing-oriented person in general) but some of these people use the same stripes and one logo for virtually every if not every single car in the game. It is still not “immoral” but it kind of takes away from those who can and have made wonderful race-inspired paints, both realistic and fictional, who are likely never to be largely noticed until word of mouth gets around… or they just post an entry in a design contest.
I never used any online features in Forza 4, so I can’t judge the system in Horizon 3 based on the old FM4 system. But I do agree the limit is a bit much, especially for, hey hey, Oldskool because he can only buy 20 RX-7’s and 918’s every 24 hours.
I got Legendary painter status in a month, a month and half maybe? Without ever spamming messages and posts telling people to have a look. My methods? Make professional designs for popular cars. Monster and rally designs for Subarus are the most popular from my experience. Martini livery for the escort and lancia for the rally fans. Monster energy inspired liveries for cars that would actually seem legit. Formula drift designs for the drifters. Give a little to everyone and you’ll get a lot back.
I thought it’d take me forever getting to Legendary status but it was a lot quicker than expected. Its humbling and appreciated to know your time spent making designs are appreciated by others.
But if people know how to use the Auction House they can get them for cheap while the forzathon is still on.
Go to advanced search and put max buyout just above the value a new painter / tuner can sell at, search and if some come up try to buyout quickly. Every single forzathon where I want duplicates I do this and every time I get the car for the cheapest buyout possible.
