Give it 50 more PI, let’s see if it still wins then.
Cars like these expose the game’s limitations. Forza’s PI system is not a “set and forget thing”, it needs some manual tweak. FH4 won’t get a new PI system, so manual tweak is the way to go.
If we start banning everything then let’s make all online races cycled production (which would be nice, actually).
I know Horizon is much more casual than Motorsport but more options for online racing would be a very simple fix, more adventures such as
RWD/FWD
Decades
Factory Spec where everyone drives the same car.
That would let those who can’t function without their precious OP AWD cars such as this (which I have happily not encountered in my 1 and only monthly adventure I do every series) stay with them and battle each other while everyone interested in variety and actual car control could leave them to it and have a much more enjoyable experience.
Though with the short length of races a Factory Spec adventure would be largely decided by how lucky you were with your starting positions, much like a lot of adventures are.
But as I always say if we started on the same spot (which I can’t understand why it hasn’t been implemented since everyone is ghosted at the start anyway now) that wouldn’t be a problem.
The core problem here is the PI system, not nerfing/buffing any particular car.
IMHO a game based on RL car models and physics will always have some sort of meta, simply because IRL some cars are actually physically better than their competitors. A good PI system will help alleviate this to some degree by recognizing it and penalizing appropriately, but at the end of the day the car physics in Forza are primarily based on RL, not fudged feel-good numbers (for the most part) like more arcade based car games.
That said, I would like to see a bit more consistency in upgrade availability for cars. For example, all tire types should be available for all cars instead of the extreme hit and miss with trucks and SUVs where some have race tires and some don’t, and some have offroad race tires and some don’t for Reasons. Tire width inconsistency is an even larger issue, and seems to be the root of these cars people complain about being OP. Especially with how wide rear tires DECREASE PI with AWD, even though you can just tweak the center diff and make it RWD biased for improved performance at a negative PI cost. Things that reduce PI like ballast weights, economy tires and power limiters could also help, as another thing that makes cars meta is that they have a really low starting PI and have tons of upgrade room compared to a “better” car that has a higher starting PI, and less room to put on the meta upgrades.
Can’t really fix PI given what that’d do to the game, so the best fix for FH4 is to ban drivetrain-swapped cars from ranked in future seasons. You’d still see a lot of base-AWD cars, but they have characteristics that make them more competitive by default: heavier, larger, higher center of gravity, skinnier rear tires, etc. That’d also promote a lot of interest in something other than the meta, which is good for a game that prides itself on a lot of cars and options.
The idea of yours creates more problems then fixes. S1 class will totally dominated by Bugatti Eb110ss and some Lambo Aventadors, Huracans while S2 will be Bugatti Divos playground.
So I have a better idea. Ban awd completely or give us drivetrain based races. Like some races only rwd or only fwd etc.
Agreed. I once used Exquitt’s NSX tune in A class and managed to secure 4th with 12th as the starting position. Banning cars is not the proper solution. We could just ban almost every single car and end up like forza motorsport 7. I stopped taking ranked seriously after finding out how trueskill works with a poor matchmaking system. Fingers crossed for the implementation of trueskill2 someday.
There is nothing that can beat atomic punk in A dirt races. Your only hope is that the driver sucks.
Again, I would have no problem if the car was included in the base game but putting the best car in a DLC is just a slimy tactic to make profit.
Nobody is arguing that those DLC cars aren’t the best (although even then, not for ALL circumstances). The original contention was that “if you own the pack you have no competition in A class races” which is not true. Okay, all things being equal, if the very best players are in the very best cars, who perform at their best, and you are in one of the less good cars, you will lose to them. That isn’t a situation you’ll regularly find yourself in, at least not in my experience.
The number of people I see in meta cars in ranked or unranked who fail to get anywhere near the best out of the car, shows they are not pay to win. It shows that in the right hands and on the right tracks, they are better, that’s all. Put any average player in those cars against a very good player in a slightly lesser car, the latter will win most of the time.
There are plenty of A class cars which are competitive in the hands of a skilled driver. Likewise the Roadster is no easy win machine, the fast drag tunes are a real handful especially in the wet.
And another just now of me in a TZ2 against a Roadster, Autumn and wet again.
And if you think the pay-to-win situation is bad now, imagine how bad it will be when the game reaches End of Life status, when the game and all it’s associated DLC can no longer be purchased…
Or just drop the $7 and start your download while being grateful there’s only two car packs to bemoan purchasing this time as opposed to the eight or so during H3.
I’m confused. I’m sure there was another thread wanting the Nova FE to be banned as nothing could beat it at A class. Now, this thread wants the entire Barrett Jackson selection banned because nothing can beat them at A class?
