I don’t know how many people have actually road raced before but rarely do cars have symmetrical setups. Tracks with more right hand turns have tend to have more aggressive tuning for that and vice versa. Give a little in the lefts, gain more in the rights. On top of that there isn’t a car on the planet that runs negative camber on the inside wheels on an oval track… Please let us tune the suspension properly.
This is a SIM-CADE don’t expect AC in this things as like in gt7 (and this is good)
I know… But if we can adjust stuff like preload now in order to get more bite on acceleration it shouldn’t be too much of an ask to be able to point the tires at the pavement. I love tuning in Forza and always have. I find a great amount of enjoyment in it. I’m not claiming to be the best by any stretch, but there is some seriously unlocked/overlooked potential.
I’m not even trying to dive into the rabbit hole of tire pressure, the different types of shock bumps and rebounds, ride heights, trackbars, the new weight ballast, etc. Just let me point my tires at the ground so I can rip some semi proper laps esp on the ovals. I think people will really dig it.
Hey… We have drift suspension, MAYBE an oval suspension kit and a drag kit?
If I hear this term “sim cade” one more time, imma flip. It’s 2023, and this term is just, at this point, an excuse to not work harder for making a good game. it’s truly sad that the game has almost the same amount of tuning as FM4.
Really, sit back and think about that. 10+ years with very little change.
The entire upgrade system has been unchanged since FM1 really, all we got since then was some different part grouping (FM2, FM3), a few new parts (FM4 drag tires, FH2 rally parts, FM7 drift suspension, FM ballast) and 2 new tuning options. The basics are still the same 3 tiers of parts where only the last one is fully adjustable. Real life provides more nuance, different parts have different levels of adjustability. GT seems to know that, Tokyo Xtreme Racer seems to know that, even modern NFS of all things seems to know that. In fact, I’ve made a suggestion about this specifically [More adjustable parts and upgrade "level" name change].
It only seems like the next step after amping up the tire model like they have. The difficulty may be in how Turn10 is actually handling the physics calculations.
And the fact is, Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo -ARE- sim-cade games. Personally, I think it’s fine… there’s a niche for games that are almost full on simulation and for others that are super serious simulation… just like there are games that go even further towards full on arcade game.
Where Forza and Gran Turismo shine is creating a space where you can somewhat legitimately feel like you’re building your car. Watching folks like Mighty Car Mods, Tavarish, AutoAlex etc build cars, modify them, restore them and enjoy driving them makes me want to have a project myself. Except that I don’t have the garage space, tools, skill, money… in Forza, I can buy a car, modify it and then try to tune it.
Assetto Corsa, iRacing, etc are amazing to drive in for the realistic handling… how the cars are, is only what they are.
I’ve played Forza Motorsport for about 150 hours now, finished all the series, and I’m running cars in 3 divisions right now. I use a PC, wheel and pedals. Recently, I plugged in my X box controller and set the game assists to maximum; I could drive every track at a competitive speed by holding down the throttle button on the controller and doing nothing else. Nothing. I do enjoy the game, but I’ll never be able to take seriously a racing game that completely replaces the driver if you want it to. It’s just entertainment. And entertainment is great, but it’s just play, fantasy, smoke, and mirrors. And players who think passing means knocking you out of the way.
Out of curiosity… did you choose to turn the assists on? Or did you already have them on? I mean, I guess we can assume, but just to clarify…
Yeah I agree split the camber to FR FL RR RL
The maximum game assists are disabled if the player is using a wheel and pedals; they are only available when using a controller.
I already checked the post on Nascar and indicars and nobody is talking about it.
Let’s talk about the ELEPHANT in the room… More outside the room than Inside.
As all real Nascar enthusiast and that undertsnad something about car in general, know that cars running in OVALS don’t have Simmetrical setups but Asymmetrical.
MEANING: You tune the suspension differently the left side from right side of the vehicle.
This was somenting missing in all FORZAs, will it be unlocked in this version?
