If they fixed these suspension tunes, the handling model would really shine

Seriously. I was able to scrounge up some actual specs for the M3 GTS. Applied them to the car in this game and it feels fantastic. I’d swear I was driving the actual thing. I happen to own a 2010 M3 that has been specced and tuned to match the M3 GTS and in this game with these settings I found it feels really really close to my M3.

If they fixed these tunes, this handling model would smoke Gran Turismo’s IMHO. Try it out >>

Stock tire pressure is ok enough, but I set mine to:
F 40
R 35

alignment:
F -1.2
R -2
no toe
Caster 7

stock ARB

springs ( LB/IN ) - These can be a lil tricky since you’ll have to cut some rates in 1/2 if the car they’re in has a divorced spring setup.
F 550
R 400

Ride Height
F 4.9
R 4.9

Bump
F 3
R 2

Rebound
F 8
R 9

Set susp geometry to 0. Both sets.

Aero and Brake balance are stock.

What upgrades do you have on your M3 GTS?

Only springs and dampers. The point is to show that IRL settings work in game.

Great post, but this is not happening any time soon. If it does, I’ll happily eat my hat

People have been asking in-depth tuning options for decades, not just for suspension, but particularly for forced induction, brakes, aero, and tyre compounds. Well, they added that last one, but it’s kinda broken in both SP and MP.

I believe Forza is trying to win over the NFS crowd while still keeping the traditional Forza crowd happy. The tuning options are fine right now, but more options for purists and more parts to add on your car (both cosmetic and performance-wise) would be an excellent addition, elevating the franchise to new heights.

IMO, they should be doing everything possible to reverse the lukewarm reception post-release!

Absolutely agree. If only they implemented a sort of “game within a game” where you build your cars up like you can in real life. I mean every part. Not just a package or “stage 1”…etc. I want the ability to upgrade to my liking via individual components. I would also, for the 1000th time love to see a DYNO in the game!
So, new upgrades system/part options, new cosmetic upgrade options and the ability to fine tune everything via Turbo/Boost tuning, ECU tuning, Individual tyre tuning…etc. Take my car to the dyno for precision tuning(also, it looks and sounds awesome right?) and perhaps even a test track of sorts to tune suspension and whatnot.
Surely these are things, which have been begged for since FM1, would not only enhance the game via a sort of “mini-game” but also provide those that want more out of their cars to have that option to do so.
And if anybody doesnt want to utlize that option, can go ahead and pick “stage 1”, “stage 2”, “stage 3” packages and have an auto tune mode or something.
That would at least have given the game a bit more legs considering the state the game is in…

It seems to me that you only need to watch a 10 second side by side from FM and GT7 to see who has the best physics model.

Physics is something you feel not what you see. Gt7s chase cam is worse than forzas, gt7 has a better cockpit view but that doesnt have anything to do with physics. Id argue they both do things right and wrong often on opposite sides of the spectrum. I know you l-o-v-e this game, but watching videos of something rather than playing it to form an opinion on something like physics is ill advised.

I own both games and play them each fairly regularly. GT7 bothers me more tho with its weird transmissions. I’ve never heard or felt a car shift the way they do in GT7. It’s just so weird. That alone makes it hard to play. FM, I feel like I’m in a car. Especially after finally figuring out how to tune the suspension as I have here. M3 in FM now feels considerably better than it does in GT7. Also the transmissions in FM feel more authentic so there’s that.

Point is this. The reason FM’s physics get so much flack is because of the tunes. When these cars are tuned properly, FM’s physics and/or handling model is a good bit better imho. GT’s just feels … weird. Synthetic. Too safe.

I’ll write something oposite so you have some context. You’ll make out of it what you want and it’s not like you’ll run to buy a ps5 anyway.

I played Forza since early access, GT7 for a little over a month now.

That’s obviously my opinion but if you turn off all assists GT7 is much harder to drive at the limit than forza but much more enjoyable.

Coming from ACC I can drive BoPed GT3s almost the exact same way, go for pretty much identical lap times.

Idk about BMW… it’s fun to drive dead stock. Going for gts replica I found on youtube was even better.

At the end of the day it’s all presonal preference and people will argue like it’s all black and white for both sides.

Well…I’m not gonna say that one game is better than the other, but physics can be seen as well as felt. Just watch high quality animation over low quality animation (movies).

If physics can be seen…pointles convo but watch this then.

Just a little example that animation isnt physics. Forza Motorsport has one of the worst wheel rotation animations implemented in a modern racing game, does that mean the physics are inaccurate, obviously not. Gt7 has a stiff chase cam that can be adjusted to be similar to forzas, it still has no bearing on the physics.

Gt7 has a better cockpit view even when not in vr.

Those types on conversations happen between any game that represents similar genre. People argue about ACC vs IRacing vs Automobilista.

I’d say Forza vs GT7 it’s more controversial as it links to xbox vs ps.

The funny part is that most of the people that argue don’t own nor played the other platform/game but have so strong 2nd hand opinions + it’s them = bad.

Even if there is a decent physics system underneath pathetic stock tunes, why we as a playerbase should spent a good chunk of our evenigs ironing out “professionals” mistakes.

While I appreciate CRSSQU4R3D efforts getting to the bottom of this nonsense this is another example where community has to do heavy lifting :joy:

Tbh i dont think most people drive stock cars long enough to care about the stock tunes. I think this game compared to the past went a little more extreme when stock just to highlight upgrading parts a little more, which i think it does.

I think the stock ffb settings do more to hamper peoples thoughts of the physics then stock tunes that are rarely used for longer than a race or two. Im happy the real numbers translated well for him, but its not that common. With every release these threads pop up and its just not a universal formula.

Also for example in this case the player is upgrading the suspension, which will have a massive impact on any car.

The stock suspension in real life for most cars will be quite bad for the track. Stock springs tend to be super soft to allow for greater comfort in road driving. On a track you will get a lot of body roll while cornering which will feel awful.

Same with anti dive. Most cars will have fairly high anti dive to avoid the nose from dipping too much under braking while driving in the city. On the track this will just make the weight transfer more sudden and can easily cause loss of grip.

Many of these requested options would require a brand new Upgrade System. That’s a good thing in my eyes, a game advertized as built from the ground up should be built from the ground up, at least mostly.
