Are you up for the D Class Challenge?

I was able to get in two runs before work and improved my Castelletto time a bit.

This is really quite fun, especially finding out that you don’t have to break almost at all.

Brakes? Let your gears do the braking in D. I’m probably never fully off throttle ever, and I’m still slow.

Oh I know. I just ran the East Forest Trail and I know I can go faster - I only used the brake once and I can avoid that as well.

EDIT: So I couldn’t avoid braking there, but I don’t think it matters.

i’m going to jump in on this. i’ll go all american muscle and post the times…

New time at Nice Promenade set with a fwd CRX at 2:17.939. That may be the fastest I can go but I will try again because that sprint is fun.

Also a new time at Castilletto East Forest with PPi awd tune on the Alpine at 2:55.209. That course is fun but technical. I will try that one again.

10:11.996 is my new total and I’m still working on it. Having a blast running these tracks on the list with D class rides.

You made me go back for another run LOL. I managed to take over a second off my time and get back ahead of you in my FWD Mini. Time amended in my OP.

Oh man, I knew you wouldn’t let that time go uncontested. I might need to switch to the mini just to get close to that time. I’m having fun trying to get near your times Moss.

Sisteron : 1:15.779
Nice Massena : 2:23.411
Saint Martin : 1:17.138
Castelleto : 2:55.410
Montellino : 1:09.674
San Giovanni : 1:16.569

Total Time : 10:17.981

You’re a man of your word, thanks mate!

While this will undoubtedly only push my times further down the list, I’m very happy to see everyone jumping in and having a go.

I’m probably still not at a stage where I will start tuning my cars so at best I’ll be running a stock 250 Cali if I have not already done so.

Hope this spreads an appreciation of how much fun and capable D class can be - I truly believe that learning to drive this class fast only makes you even faster in the higher classes.

Thanks again!

Thought I better not let you guys have all the fun.

Sisteron Vitesse- 1:15.639
Nice Promenade St. Race- 2:19.508
Saint Martin- Ville- 1:15.652
Castelleto- East Forest Trail 2:50.138
Montellino- South Scramble 1:06.938
San Giovanni- Old Town 1:14.542

Thanks PPiDrive… great idea and lots of fun. CraftyBudman… Thats a total of somewhere around 10:02.417

Noticed you beat my time at San Giovanni CraftyBUDMAN so I had to accept the challenge LOL. New time of 1:14.081. I have amended my OP  My D class Renault Alpine is AWD.

Didn’t think you would stand for that… Looks like your going to be a second quicker at them all…lol. Great fun, it brings out the best in all of us I believe

PPi… I’m using your AWD tune for my times. Have many of your tunes… Thx… nice job

Budman

Is that the one you used for the events? I believe I have a shared AWD Renault, but the one I’ve been using for these events is an unshared RWD tune that is not far from stock settings. I just didn’t feel like I was able to get my AWD fast enough.

I did download your tune for the Renault HLR Moss, is that one AWD and is it the one you used? EDIT: I could have sworn when I downloaded the tune it was by [OHLR] HLR Moss but it displays [OHLR] EMW Livin, strange. In anyway, I tried it in Sisteron and found it not as quick as mine even though it had more power - perhaps that was simply the wrong locale for it to shine.

If you guys want, I can share my RWD Alpine tune that I have been using for these events.

WearyMick you are fast, and it has been an absolute pleasure playing tag with your ghost. I look forward to it more often. Do you mind if I add you to my friend list?

No that will be Livin’s tune, mine isn’t shared. I tried a RWD tune but found that it didn’t perform so well off the tarmac and doesn’t take the turns quite as well  I don’t want to fully share my setup but if you hit me with a FR I could put it up for you for a short while so you can grab it, then I will take it down again LOL

Edit: Yes I used the same AWD setup in all the events where speed was required. Another advantage of the AWD setup is that the stock gearbox is adjustable

1:15.239 - Sisteron Vitesse
2:19.574 - Nice Promenade Street Race
1:15.096 - Saint Martin Ville Circuit
2:50.038 - Castelletto East Forest Trail
1:06.773 - Montellino South Scramble
1:14.883 - San Giovanni Old Town Circuit

Total: 10:1.603 (I think)

Had to run Promenade for the first time (don’t get along with Nice) and re-run San Giovanni in a competitive car. If I’m fast PPiDrive how is it that you’re cleaning up all my times lol? Have added you as a friend so now there’s yet someone else to chase me down whenever I post a competitive time.

I wouldn’t say all. One. Well, maybe two because I didn’t see you there on Promenade, but I had you set as my East Trail Ghost and it took quite the effort to pass you. I don’t know how much faster I could go without having much more power and riding the wall around a few corners but that’s something I’m not wanting to do regardless of how badly I’d love to be ahead of someone in particular.

HLR Moss thanks for the offer. I have added you to my friends list as well. I might have another go at an AWD Alpine tune, I just have to figure out the gearing. I have found that in RWD the stock setup is actually fairly quite good and I believe I changed the differential and a couple settings a bit to increase turn response. The rest was fairly good and I think if I could replicate that with the extra set of driven wheels it would be nice. If I can’t figure it out, I will let you know when I am on so perhaps I could borrow your car. Thank you.

Not meaning to derail the thread, just did an inventory of the leaderboards and noted my findings, these are the races and classes that are somewhat barren, following shows number of scores for each class’ leaderboards:

And this is after PPi threw down the gauntlet. It was worse before, good to see some names popping up on some of these now.

There are about an equal number that are not much better off, numbering less than 2000. Please keep an eye out for them and show them some love too

Yeah, the lower classes get no love. I was already currently in the process of doing rivals on every track in every class starting with D through A to get in the top 1% at least on each track. The low volume tracks make that impossible (for me) but I will keep doing it and eventually add in S1 and S2 when I have mastered D through A.
