Are people in the game anti-social for you?

I have had a couple of people who wanted to drive around and have fun, (for a minute) but almost every time they just ignore me. I have yet to have anyone accept a challenge race. I don’t know…as soon as I request using d-pad it gets denied. Is it broke? People suck in this game lol

Ive had a few random group cruises but i agree most people dont seem to want to do car meets/cruises

Maybe they have challenge requests turned off. I seem to recall there’s a switch for that. I’d say that throwing around PvP requests is the more anti-social behaviour. It’s like walking up to random people on the street and asking if they want to fight you.

Where’s the point in having it in the first place then? And how do you not randomly ask for head-to-head, I don’t recall PvP-only servers in the game. Btw. Head-to-Head races are the fastest way to clear the achievement “Human-after-all”.

I don’t think people are anti-social mostly, just unsocial or busy getting their achievements while they don’t want to miss out on Life Forzathons. As Ti Hsien pointed out there’s an option to deny head-to-head challenges automatically, some might not even notice it’s off as you can trigger it off by mistake over the Anna menu.

The bigger problem with multiplayer is the lack of filter options and the missing after-race votes. In FH3 most people interested in good races went for class A or B races. Outside of organized club races you have to eat what you’re served now in FH4.

LOL I’m talking about the quick challenges that we used to have with drivatars in FH3. I don’t think that is a weird thing when people are driving around. Maybe you knew what I meant and think it’s weird. Maybe so, I just don’t have any gamer friends anymore. At my age it’s weird asking people to play games. Also I don’t like playing with strangers anyway like chat and all, so I’m stuck a loner. I just thought a quick race would fit me perfect, but I guess that’s weird? People are weird…it’s not me…it’s not me.

Yeah, that’s what he means. You can make it so no one can ever challenge you, which you seem to hate but is actually a godsend. I have had a few encounters that mirrored bad expriences I had in the Test Drive Unlimited days, where I’d be pootling around in a 60hp Beetle, when some idiot in a lime green AWD Senna rolls up and challenges me to 15 races in a row. I’m not racing you, boyo! Go away!
The last thing I want as I;'m driving about is for any of the stupid people near by to hit me with a deluge of challenge requests for a race I have no hope of ever winning. I really, strongly HATE people who spam me with challenge requests, the first NO should have been enough. Leave people alone if they don’t want to talk to you, they are not obligated to spend time with you just because you want to

Yes, the equivalent of duel requests in any number of MMORPGs - in other words, walking up to random people and asking them to fight you. I’m not saying it’s weird, just anti-social. Isn’t there a PvP option for the actual races?

I hope you’re joking.
Asking someone playing a racing game if they want to race is NOT anti-social behavior.
It is also NOTHING like asking someone if they want to fight.

Antisocial - Mayo Clinic

It is anti-social behaviour by the normal definition of anti-social (hostile, unfriendly, et al), though probably not by the psychiatric definition. But who would possibly think we were discussing psychiatry here? Did you really think the OP was calling players psychopaths?

And it is like asking someone if they want to fight. Any personal contest could be analogous, but races are even called “battles” by some.

LOL Wow. The psych definition is what you claim; hostile, unfriendly, etc.

Asking someone to a friendly competition is not anti-social. It’s called playing a GAME.

You’ve already established you have similar interests since you are both playing the same GAME.

A better real world analogy would be seeing someone at a state park on a mountain bike while you’re on a mountain bike and asking if they want to ride a trail together.

Likening asking someone to race, in a racing GAME that you are both currently playing, to picking a fight with a random stranger is delusional.

“Friendly competition” is an oxymoron. Competition is inherently hostile by its very nature regardless of any civilized veneer.

Playing the same game doesn’t necessarily mean you are both interested in PvP.

Initiating hostilities is hostile - or anti-social.

So if it were a fighting game, asking someone to fight would not be like asking someone to fight by your logic. Challenging someone to a personal contest is challenging someone to a personal contest - be it a fight, a race, or a game of chess. It’s an easy analogy - not even a stretch, much less a delusion.

Lol and by yours logic we shouldn’t ask people in fighting game to fight us? Because that is not right behavior?

Are you challenging in head to head? Maybe they are not in the same level of car as you? I’ve not done this in FH4, but in FH3, it was possible for people in an S class to challenge an A class. maybe thats why they don’t accept.

I prefer blueprinting races instead, so people can see what they are racing in. The slowest more wackiest vehicles are the most fun.

Isettas vs Reliant Robin vs Peel P50s is hilarious!! Can’t wait to create a specific route for this.

Seems to me that everyone runs away as fast as possible. The one convoy I participated in was just X999 cars going quickly into the nearest hard barrier. Did’nt see the point in that, so, I left. There are several things to do in this game that dont involve smashing into everything to see what breaks. Unfortunately my experience with MP thus far has been some what dismal…Charlie

Yeah, the challenges are a bit moot now since can just broadcast a pvp race invite. A sudden challenge without knowing the person’s car or the race or anything is… Eh. The lack of ability to communicate with just four emotes is the bigger issue though.

This is a big problem and a huge step back for horizon, no public waypoints means people don’t meet anymore and not being able to even bump others means that everyone can just completely ignore you now. I really appreciate the work they put into the invisibility system to make it not trigger when not necessary but the whole solution is sub optimal to say the least.
So now everyone minds his own business and nobody plays together, forzathons would be a great occasion to form groups but everyone disappears in their respective sessions after the thing…

And for god’s sake! Add a chat finally, we don’t care if xbox players can’t use it you choose to be in the pc market so adapt, sea of thieves did it and it works nicely.

We can. Search for “chatpad”.

To the OP: Do you know why we don’t do H2H races? Because they suck. It’s not racing, it’s “who can figure out the best shortcut en route to the finish line”. Also, most people are just doing their thing and don’t want to be bothered by others. People looking for races will usually be at the race events, not randomly on the map.

Do you guys ever play the Forzathon Live events? Sure, you can’t bash each other, but that makes it more of a team (since you can’t fight). These can last up to 15 minutes or longer (depending on how early you arrive to the event).

Yes, they can be repetitious, but they do allow for some social interaction.

The only thing that seems a bit disappointing, is when the event ends, the game automatically separates everyone. (the other players slowly disappear).

This is not what we are talking about, we are talking about social interactions during free-roam mode. Of course we are going to play with others during events, that’s another thing.

I entered a co-op race the other day (the dirt one that uses muscle cars) - and had two people that were teamed up message me and tell me I was ruining for them for taking a Corvette to a dirt race.
They then immediately rammed me at the start and ruined the race. Then sent me more abuse via messages because they only had stock cars and I’d brought a ‘stupid’ Corvette that they couldn’t borrow.

I won the next two races with the Corvette when the children left - and lapped one guy.
The online play is toxic AF.
