Having unlocked all the routes I can’t help but notice that there are parts of the map that aren’t used or are barely used for any race routes, and I’m wondering if a content update or expansion DLC could add more routes. The Pink Lakes roads aren’t used at all, area with the waterfall just has the start of one cross country race, the very northern area by the river but east of the canyon has nothing going on despite looking like there’s good cross country potential, the whole south west corner of the map is only really used in street races (which can’t be part of championships) and a few off road routes, the cave leading to the beach is only in the intro and a bucket list challenge, and I’m sure there’s a lot of other roads and cross country sections that are just going to waste not being part of more/any races.
How many routes did Horizon 2 have anyway? Because it doesn’t really feel like FH3 has more despite the map being bigger. It just seems like even though we can’t create our own routes, it’d still be a relatively easy thing for the developers to add (compared to doing whole map expansions at least) that would keep the game fresh.
Yeah, I’d love some new routes. There’s more variation than FH2, which is good, but there are still multiple routes that use the same roads or sections of road.
A custom route-maker would be super-dope (The Crew had this, just sayin…)
An option to create our own courses is sorely missing. We’d love a track editor in Forza Motorsport but that would be much more difficult. It should be easier in Horizon. We basically just need checkpoints, plus some systems in place to ensure the course works. For example, there should be a restriction on how far checkpoints can be placed. Ideally, the game would figure out the route, much like it determines one by setting a destination, and place barriers blocking wrong ways at intersections or at places where we deviate from the road. In Grand Theft Auto V we could hand-place props, which would be neat here. Then we’d need to be required to actually complete our course in a test run before it gets finalized and shared. The developers really dropped the ball with this huge missed opportunity.
