So I decided to boot up FM7 last night, booted up, got to “press enter” screen, did so, got to the bit where the notification pops up about drivatar reward available, then nothing… CTD. Tried again. Booted up, didn’t get past the splash screen. Thought it was the MS Store glitch, but subsequent attempts didn’t produce the “not available for your account” error. Did some head scratching…
Opened up the event viewer and BAM. I had over 20 “ForzaMotorsport7.exe was prohibited from accessing the graphics hardware” notifications. Not seen that one before. Rebooted PC, started game again, this time I got to the main menu screen, tried to buy a car from the show (new car pack), scrolling through cars… Froze then CTD. Pushing GPU to 100% in the menu? Never had this before Friday’s update, the most it pushed the GPU before this was around 70% (Radeon RX570 4Gb, 1080p, Ultra) and that was when I was actually racing, with a track, scenery and 24 cars to render, but using 100% of the GPU just to render a single car in the auto-show? I’ve had to change all of my settings to “dynamic” and “recommended” which seems to have solved it somewhat, but still got a CTD after doing a race, trying to render the funny dance podium screen, 50 laps (panic much?)! Thankfully when I restarted the game it had at least awarded me the credits and level ups. I had no issues running the game on Ultra before.
Honestly, before Friday’s update I’d had just one CTD, and that was when I tried using the design editor, which was fixed in the earlier patch. Since Friday’s update, the game has been a lot more unstable. I haven’t looked at any logs in depth, as I haven’t had the chance, but I think I might have to have a look into this a little further.
