Same problem, my game crashes after continue screen in the loading screen.

Splash screen pop-ups and then the game just closes. Don’t have any overclocker programs.
Played couple hours ago and everything was ok. After entering the house the game froze. I closed it and now it won’t launch.

Been over a week now, my answer to this is uninstall and get a refund it’s a joke, every other game I have works perfectly.i ain’t wasting my time with this anymore

You can find the fix [Mod Edit - D]

It’s been 10 days, still only gets to the splash screen for 2 seconds. Paid $100 USD and can’t even play it, let alone how insulting it is that people who got the $40 can play it. I paid extra, and now I’m punished for it. Done everything the support articles/posts say, quadruple checked everything, still doesn’t work.

This is absurd.

For those who’re using MacType, turn it off and the game should be able to launch.

This is verified by myself several times.

Ya know what, this is just nonsense, its been nearly 9 days since release of this game and i still cant play it. And i am get really sick of it because i want to play that flipin game and u cant fix that [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D]. sorry but his is just really bad. As well as i tried every single suggestion from community (btw community is way more supportive than they them selves) witch did not work which means i just wasted whole weak and two days for nothing. -_-

Hey guys, Thought i’d Throw my two cents in. After trying the mentioned above i disabled my Anti virus and now the game has booted up.

Stupid over thinking.

Hope this helps you guys.

ok i jsut bought the game and waited an hour to download i try to play and it crashes this is honestly just so disgusting how a company cannot do what they are supposed to do i dont have after burner or none of that none of this things on this forum has helped me in anyone shape or form and it shouldn’t be a job for the forum the game should be read y to play its been a week since this game has come out and still is not working i have no problem with any other games except forza somebody please help either i get my money back or you guys fix your game

So i had this issue aswell, closing the evga pre X fixed it thou but thats not an option im gonna recommend and sending a “ticket” that you have this issue will only result in turn 10 to have you wait for 9-10 days then they send you a survej that you should answer and then once you answered they close the ticket with a solved mark on it… this is unacceptable … and seing that it happens to alot just makes it worse

It didnt work me as well at start up. i uninstalled and reinstalled and then I did go to GEforce experience and started the game from there and IT WORKED!

This is how I finally got the game to start:

1: In your normal Windows user account open the “Microsoft Store” app and select “Downloads and Updates” Install the latest “XBox” app and “Microsoft Store” app. (A new store version was released 6th Oct 2018)

2: Go to the Windows search bar and type “wsreset” right click on the wsreset app and select run as administrator. Follow the instructions.

3: Check where the game is currently installed by using the “Apps and Features” tool in Windows 10. In the “Apps and Features” tool find Forza Horizon 4, click on it and select “Move” this will tell you where the game is currently installed in a pop up. You don’t need to move the game just make a note of the install location and close the window.

4: In the Windows “Apps and Features” tool, Select “Forza Horizon 4” , Select “Advanced” , Select “Reset” (note: This will NOT uninstall the game even though it says it will)

5: In the Windows “Apps and Features” tool Select "Forza Horizon 4 , Select “Advanced” , scroll to the bottom and you should see any purchased DLC for the game. Select each one and select “Uninstall”

6: Enable the Admin account in Windows 10 if not already enabled:

7: Once enabled sign out of your main Windows account and sign into the Admin account.

8: In the Admin user account open the “Microsoft Store” app and make sure you are signed in to the store using the Microsoft account that you purchased the game with.

9: In the “Microsoft Store” app go to “My Library” find Forza Horizon 4, Forza Horizon 4 Deluxe Edition or Forza Horizon 4 Ultimate Edition, depending on which version you purchased. Select install and when prompted for an install location select the location that the game is currently installed. (we found this out in step 2)

10: The “Microsoft Store” app will then begin to download the game. Don’t worry the store will only download a few Megabytes and then it will realise that the game is already installed. Just wait and let it do it’s thing, it should only take a few minutes.

11: Once the Forza Horizon 4 installation has completed you can then install any extra content that you have purchased (VIP etc.) Let all of the downloads finish.

12: Stay in the Admin account. Open the “XBox” app and make sure that you are signed in using the Microsoft account that you purchased the game with. In the “XBox” app go to settings, go to Network and make sure all the Network tests pass. If any of the tests fail make sure windows firewall is enabled. follow these guides:
https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-on-windows/social/server-connectivity-xbox-app-displays-blocked
https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-on-windows/social/troubleshoot-party-chat

13: Stay in the Admin account and start the game, either from inside the “XBox” app, “Microsoft Store” app or the start menu. If everything has worked the game should load and start.

14: Once the game has started and you have signed into the Microsoft account that you purchased and the game with and synchronised successfully you can then close the game.

15: Sign out of the Admin account and sign back in to your normal Windows account.

16: In your normal Windows account open the “Microsoft Store” app and make sure you are signed in using the Microsoft account that you purchased the game with.

17: In the “Microsoft Store” app go to “My Library” and it should show that “Forza Horizon 4” and all DLC is installed. (PLAY, MANAGE buttons)

18: Open the “XBox” app and make sure that you are signed in using the Microsoft account that you purchased the game with. In the Xbox app go to settings, go to Network and make sure all the Network tests pass. If any of the tests fail make sure windows firewall is enabled. follow these guides:
https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-on-windows/social/server-connectivity-xbox-app-displays-blocked
https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-on-windows/social/troubleshoot-party-chat

19: Start the game, either from inside the “XBox” app, “Microsoft Store” app or the start menu. If everything has worked the game should load and start.

20: Once the game has started and you have signed into the Microsoft account that you purchased the game with and synchronised successfully you can now If needed switch to another Microsoft/XBox account.

NOTE: If the game is now working in your main Windows account you should either go back and password protect the Admin account or disable it again:

NOTE: My guide assumes that the Microsoft store is working and opening correctly and that you have already taken steps to disable things like overlays/RT statistics servers, MSI Afterburner, EVGA
Pressision X, and that any Antivirus/Firewalls (COMMODO etc.) are set up correctly.

I’m so upset, I tried almost every fix I could find and nothing worked. Waste of money…

Have you tried the above.

Yup. Sadly it didn’t work for me. I also have no overlays or any other overclocking programs. System: X99 system with a r9 fury. Turned off all overlays in radeon settings and discord.

Mine was doing the same. I closed MSI Afterburner, and that resolved it. I had to do the same with F7 before later updates. Hope that helps…

This happens to me about half the time I try to start it.

Glad to see solid QA in a AAA product!

This sounds like the same issues Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4 had at launch for PC. After those games having issues I don’t buy games for PC from the Microsoft store for PC anymore. Luckily I have Game Pass so this is a game I don’t have to pay for but I am still having issues downloading it, just as before. Pretty disappointing.
