[ANSWERED] Forza Horizon 4 wont launch (PC)

Still no real support from Devs around these issues is really disappointing. Hopefully we get a patch this week to stop all these work arounds and people can enjoy the game they paid for.

In my case the game worked till last Tuesday, when the day one patch went live my game now refuses to go past the initial menu and loading screens. No MSI, Gaming overlay programs, games saved on other drives, VR headsets etc. it simply just doesn’t work…

i solve doing my time zone automatic and the time automatic on settings then hour and language then just make the first two boxes to automatic that solve

Changing the time zone and time to automatic worked for me!

Changing the time zone and time to automatic worked for me! After you change it, reinstall the game in the same location but don’t delete the original files. The store would start installing but quickly realize that the game is already install. Hope this helps!

Guys, I just solved this for me.

Probably it may be most of the cases.

I was having some trouble with windows time server just timing out and my clock was off by 3 hours ahead.

I just gave up trying to use a time server and set the time manually accordingly to my smartphone. The game launched when Windows had the right clock time, just that, no reinstall

Hope I can help!!

So here’s my issue… I start Forza, see the splash screen for 2-3 seconds, and then it closes. I found out that stopping my MSI Dragoncenter in task manager will help sometimes. The main fix I found however is disconnecting my computer from the internet and it will start and run fine. That excludes me from Horizon Life and Online and such, but I can play. Hope this helps others, but also looking for a fix?

None of those fixed my problem…

Damn. I’ve been trying to get the game working for 4 days but I just can’t. I’ve tried to follow all of those steps in this thread but none of them worked. Please devs solve this problem. Look how many people are having the same issues… This is honestly a shame for such a big company like this… Btw that new support page is hilarious, you open a ticket for fh4 and they send you a year ago forza horizon 3 stuff. LOL.

For anyone still struggling with this problem - which was my case until yesterday - please check this post at the Reset Era forums:

It lists pretty much all the fixes reported here AND a BUNCH of other ones, and among these I found out my specific issue (it was the Warsaw software, uninstalling it did the trick).

I had pretty much given up on the game and was contemplating a refund. Then I remembered (yeah, remembered) I do have a Xbox One and started downloading FH4 there to see if it was a licensing/server issue. It wasn’t, I played for a couple of hours with no issue whatsoever.
Then the Windows Store, the game bar and the Xbox app all updated during the weekend and… Nothing. Still wouldn’t open. Thankfully I finally stumbled upon that Reset Era post.

The game ‘doesn’t like’ too much stuff on PC, it’s ridiculous.
Microsoft did the impossible on PC: get worse than it was during the Games for Windows Live era. /facepalm

Guys, I had to update to the last Windows Version (Win1809) to play this game.
Try to force the update and change the game location to your main HD.

After looking around for a fix I found that some apps that run in the background affect Forza for some reason. In my case it’s having problems with Riva Tuner Statistics. This app is to show stats on games and works through Msi After Burner. I use it to overclock my GPU but there is a work around. Just close Msi and Riva, run Forza and then relaunch Msi. It works for me but keep in mind that you cannot bring the stats or Forza will crash. In my setup I have F1 to toggle the stats on and off but when I tried to see how Forza was running it crashed.

If you are using onboard VGA + PCI-E GPU. Disable it in the bios then going into chipset settings then set it to GPU0-IGFX

Same problem here… I even had to install windows 10 to play… fully updated fresh OS with the latest drivers amd on R9 390 and game won’t even start… nice!

See new patch
Get excited
Download patch
Launch game
Game crashes instantly
Resume disappointment

Still…it’s nice to see that the crash on start-up issue hasnt been added to the “known issues” post.

Since day one, I had the issue with the game loading the splash video for about 1 second then immediate crash. Today’s patch changed nothing. I’ve tried everything listed in every thread I could find (e.g., game overlays, different drive, killing services, resetting Windows Store, multiple driver changes/rollbacks, reinstalling the game, etc).

The thing that fixed it for me was to unplug my Windows MR headset!

I thought I would chime in because I was having this problem. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling 3 times and couldn’t get any error codes or anything except one time when it told me my graphics driver wasn’t up to date. Updated it, restarted the pc once or twice, and now it works fine. Hope this helps! Also I’ve heard having spatial audio on or off (can’t remember which) can cause this problem but it wasn’t the problem for me.

Hi!

After today’s update, my game won’t start on PC!
I updated the nvidia driver, I updated Windows 10, I reseted the game’s settings but nothing, still wont start!

Please help me.

I’ve been experiencing the same crash on launch issue that so many other people on here have been experiencing. I have tried every fix posted here on the forums as well as their “support” page outlining this issue. Not sure what happened but after the two recent game updates, I decided to try closing EVGA Precision X out (I had already tried this prior to the updates and it didn’t work), low and behold, it solved my issue and I was able to launch the game! Just to make sure this was indeed what was causing the issue, I opened the game without Precision X running, and once the game launched, I reopened Precision X. The game immediately crashed when I opened it. Now I know this isn’t ideal, as many of us use Precision X to control our GPU fans. And I sure as hell wasn’t going to play this game without my GPU fans running. So I did some research and found out that you can install “Nvidia System Tools” and it will enable device settings under your Nvidia Control Panel. You can then use those settings to control your fan settings automatically. The fan curve settings aren’t as robust as Precision X’s (you can only set 3 fan curve points instead of 6), but it’s better than nothing. So this will be my temporary solution until the devs actually acknowledge this major problem and address it properly. I played the game last night for 3 hours without a single crash. And I could still keep my GPU fans running.

Hope this helps!

Patch soon ?

My game crashes on main menu. It worked perfectly fine before the patch.
I’ll ask for a refund if it isn’t fixed very soon. I payed 100€ for a game that I can’t play because the devs broke it.

BTW, my W10 is up to date, all my drivers too.
Config : i7 6700k, GTX 1080, 16 GB ram.

I found that after i uninstalled Trend Micro Security Agent that the game would load. I also turned off EVGA’s Precision Overclocking software.
