Another Thrustmaster Wheel setting help thread. Specifically related to DOR

So I have been playing Forza 6 with a Thrusmaster TX wheel for some time now. At first getting the wheel settings right to make the game even useable with the wheel was a challenge. I have finally got it to a point where it is “Ok” but not perfect by any means. No matter what car I use, what track, what tune etc. It is always the same result and I surely cannot be the only one with this issue.

What I am experiencing is. If I am trying to take a corner a bit on the aggressive side, the feedback is there in the wheel. If I go a little to much, you feel the wheel kind of “let go/get loose” and the car goes into an instant loss of control and you cannot correct it. In short, my complaint is, the cars seem to lose control too easy with the wheel.

Now with a controller. I can use the same car, same track, same tune as I was with the wheel and I can push the car through the corner faster, with better control and I can correct it if it starts to lose a bit of control. I am getting more of a realistic response from the controller then I do with the wheel. The wheel just does not feel natural at this point. I have tracked many cars in real life(Including Ferraris, McLarens, BMW etc) and in real life, the cars do not behave like this at all obviously. I consider myself an above avg driver.

So what is going on here? Is it merely a setting for the wheel or is it the game itself? I know this game has a ton of FFB issues, but its starting to get a bit annoying.

When I play Assetto Corsa, I do not experience this feeling with the wheel at all. But I enjoy playing Forza more at times because of the car selection, graphics, modding etc.

I have been using DOR set to 270 and Sensitivity on 4 flashes when playing Forza6. I have tried with assists on/off, different DOR settings, sim steering and normal and this always happens. I got it to the point now where its a bit more controllable but no where near where I think it should be.

Any thoughts or setting suggestions specific to the TX wheel? or is this just “how it is” with this game.

I am not a hardcore gaming racer and not looking to set top leaderboard times. Just want to enjoy using the wheel. Sometimes I have my friends over and we just mess around in the game… But sometimes it gets really difficult to drive for more of a novice driver and it makes it not fun. The cars just lose control way to easy with the wheel. I have loaded tunes from some of the top guys out there and it happens no matter what tune I am using, but ONLY on the wheel not the controller.

Thanks

It’s nice to see some one else too using wheel with passion -we are so rare species! I’ve been using TX for two years with Forza and now it’s my second wheel after 1st broke down loosing force of ffb. Tx is so much better with Forza than Logitech g920, especially in midcorners, so much more sensitivy. Of course with TX u will suffer ffb bug time after time, but u can live with it by quick booting your wheel during race(I do it on pits). Tx basic add-on-wheel is too weak with it plastics to work with servo motors huge power and need to be replaced with something harder like GTO wheel.
I’m using very sensitivy settings and 270 dor like u, sim steering, all dead zones off and foce and rumble quite high like 60-80. I know I’m giving advance to others who use controller, but this is the only way I feel driving is Enjoyable. With hard work u can be relatively high on results and leaderboards with wheel also.

The only advice i could give you is to raise your dor and choose normal instead of simulation steering. Normal steering although making things a little less crisp makes the car less twitchy. I personally use 900 dor for regular cars and lower as i get into race cars.

By choosing 270 and a sensitivity of 4 you’re more or less using 900 anyway so its best to cut out the middle man (tx sensitivity setting) and just use a normal setting. You can choose any youd like in the options, for instance you can choose 330 or 720 or whatever.

The ffb implementation is bad in forza. Theres not many options to be had to try and remedy it. I also dont like how they drop the ffb altogether when you lose traction because its very abrupt. You dont gradually lose it, it feels horrible. So what i have done is lower the ffb strength so when the wheel does go limp its not as jarring as it wouldve been if the ffb strength was high.

The only fix I found for the force feedback in Forza games for thrustmaster wheels was to sell it and buy a Fanatec clubsport v2 lol. The FFB has been great ever since. The TX was a great wheel with most titles but felt awful with Forza games. The lack of feel around center and the on and off force feedback was just something I couldn’t get used to.

Haah…how much did u suffer in cash? That hi-end wheel set must be awesome!

I had the TX wheel for some time and had to run AT 540 DOR and normal steering and FF at 70% and it worked for me but took forever to get good settings and the wheel burnt up after not much use so I bought the logitec G920. The G920 wheel is so much better more control, had to set the FF to 100 but its just right. wished I bought the G920 the first time

Like I earlier wrote, to me it was just the opposite -I couldnt feel anything in the centre of curve with g920. It’s the place I would have needed it the most. It’s bit stupid that u have to update ur wheel and it can only be done by pc.
