The other night I tried Forza Multiplayer for the first time - not counting co op campaign in FH3 - and I enjoyed it.
Yes there was the odd rammer and the start of each race was an absolute free for all, but I found if you are in the upper 2 thirds of the field, most of the rammer’s have already rammed someone and are too far back to get you, and you can enjoy some really competitive racing. All I played were a few races in the A class hopper, in an overpowered AMV8 Vantage from the 70’s and thoroughly enjoyed trying to drive that. Unfortunately in one race around Mugello Short, after spending most of the race swapping places with a better handling Chev camaro, On the final corner I was in front, and he realized once I was around that he would lose to me on the straight, so he rammed me to a different plane of existence on the final corner and we both DNF’d. It was unfortunate and stupid but I still came away having enjoyed myself, the intense driving between me and the Chev was great, and even though I didn’t win I felt like I was slightly better after that race at driving.
What do other people think of mulitplayer? I see most do not have a great experience but I think a lot get too competitive and that’s when It falls apart. But what can ya do.
I haven’t raced in a public lobby in months. I don’t see myself racing in a public lobby in the near future either. I do however race with two different online leagues who set up championships. I am not the fastest driver but I do my best to race as cleanly as possible. Over the last several weeks between learning to do my own tunes and advice from more experienced racers I have seen my lap times improve dramatically. So I stick with racing in private lobbies. I detest getting smashed and I’m one who plays a lot of FH3 online multiplayer and I find it to be a much cleaner driving experience than FM7. Hell I think I get rammed less in FH3 Playground games than I do in a public lobby in FM7.
I think a lot of the “competitive” players will eventually grow up, buy a BMW, then return to being idiots in real life. I’m not good enough for multiplayer but I want the achievements so I’ll try and finish as many laps as possible without getting frustrated. I’ll often pull over at the start line, let everyone pass and bring up the rear until the “competitive” players start knocking each other off the track meaning I toddle along passing them. Using this method I can complete 90% of the laps until I get a DNF. Once I have the MP achievements I won’t go back to it. Glad yiou enjoyed it though!
I have to agree. I have seen now past 2 days so good racing without any REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE guys in rear view mirror. And one absolute legend which i got luckily on record.
Havent touched MP since FM6 leagues and a bit open lobbys. Its ben private MP from there on so we can get rid of these guys who rather ram someone off the road on the last corner then lose a fair fight.
Incedents do happen but its allot different when everybody is in the same party. People come and go but a handfull of us still race together after nearly 10 years.
There can be some really good racing with people you have raced with for many years.
I for one will not touch open lobbys before there are some kind of penalty system that actually works.
try leagues, people are better in there. i started in grassroots and after talking to better players when leagues started i learned how to tune and drive better, as of now im in the top class of pinnacle. everynow and then there are some dust ups but every one runs clean majority of the time
Multiplayer in Forza Motorsport is flawed on a fundamental level as the game is not designed to teach/reward/encourage sportsmanlike play.
That being said you do some across the occasional lobbies and races with respectful opponents. When that happens be sure to commend those players on their fine racing skills and try to race with them more often in the future.
I race multiplayer every day in P class. I have heard P class called the worst of the lot. I enjoy the racing with the clean guys and accept that in overpowered difficult to control cars wrecks will happen.
Intentional ramming sucks and I wish it was gone but, it happens and we all have to deal with it. If I start up front and get rammed by the idiots in Bugatti’s etc I shake off the frustration and enjoy the challenge of moving back through the field.
How to pass wrecking backmarkers better than your opponent becomes part of the race and a skill that needs to be honed.
If you only want to win I imagine the wrecking and cutting can be hugely frustrating. If you enjoy good racing, regardless of finishing position, you can have a lot of fun and good racing in multiplayer.
