Yeah, there was. The first hotfix on Sunday 7th (maybe it was the day before, can’t remember) improved the connection issues…pretty sure there was one other issue that it fixed but can’t remember what it was
I play very few games. For too long I’ve been used to the absolute stone wall that is Rockstar Games.
By comparison, Playground Games … Well they don’t compare. I’ve been impressed by the fact that PG will let us know what’s going on and will update us on that frequently.
To complain that the game has not been properly fixed yet whilst knowing that it’s being worked on is unfair.
Fair to complain it was released as broken as it was, but come on - That’s a big ol’ list of issues to get sorted in the next patch.
I would say it’s completely fair to complain, because no modern game should release with so many problems to begin with. I understand that even with proper and thorough testing that some problems will slip through, but too many modern games just feel like there was little to no testing done. Besides, just because a game can be fixed later doesn’t make it okay for developers to release them with so many problems. Just because a company keeps players updated on the status of fixes doesn’t excuse the fact that they released a game that doesn’t work properly.
These games should be fixed before release, not after. With the way modern technology is there’s no excuse for games being released with so many problems, and way too many games nowadays launch with too many problems.
They really SHOULD be making posts at LEAST every other day, whether it’s through a news page, dev blog, or social media, on the exact issues they’re working on, the progress, and goal for next patch/hotfix date.
It’s one things if there’s a few bugs in single player, that you can work around, but when the CORE functionality to an entire portion of the game is just COMPLETELY broken, some online features a non-existent, and they are putting out seasonal challenges that are impossible to complete or trigger, they need to be ON IT, and keep constant communication. The seasonal content can even be done in solo, but due to its online connectivity, I have not been able to 100% a season, because something never triggers. This week I wasn’t able to get the expedition goal to trigger, or finish the horizon tour without it disconnecting me in between races. If you expected just to buy the game to play around online, and do seasonal challenges, you basically paid for a non-functional product.
With all the buggy broken launches these days, I have NEVER seen an online game with functionality this broken, for this long.
Please explain how its not logical for a company to gain respect from their community? literally one of the best imo companies in the current gaming industry Warframe (Digital Extremes) have one of the best community relationships due to this exact thing, communicating and responding to their player base, if they make a change that the general community census doesn’t like they listen and revert the change if its a valid one, and have done multiple times now, hell they even pay people to make items that end up in the game now, they are literally the gold standard honestly when it comes to having a great relationship with their community and it shows since the devs get the respect back from their commuinity…
The attitude people like you have is exactly what leads to game companies getting lax and just never responding to their community, because you just assume a patch is coming, or you assume they are working on something, literally all it would take is one sentence like “he guys we understand there is still an issue with online connectivity and we are working hard to get a update out as soon as possible” i don’t see why you are so against this? especially since as i have already said, this has been the largest xbox and game pass launch to date, you really think having a game launch in such a state and still be as bad is a good thing? if it was a indie game company sure i would understand, this however is supposed to be a AAA title, communication should be their top priority and im seriously mind blown you think thats a bad thing…
I have one word: Microsoft. Playground’s lack of respect for their community is a direct mirror of Microsoft’s (and even Xbox’s) lack of respect…look how long it takes Xbox Live Outages to even be listed as an issue…a few months back there was an issue surrounding parties etc and it took 5 days before it was even acknowledged as an issue.
Having said that, at least there was some acknolwedgement, a message to say it was being worked on and an ETA…all we get is “this is the known issues list, we may or may not be working on it but we can’t tell you because it is secret, now go away”. Then again, PGG showed during the life of FH4 that their users were irrelevant and just a niusance. Ultimately, the Forza Community is huge yet all we get is one Community Manager who, honestly, doesn’t seem to do anything different than when they were just a moderator. The Microsoft forum, on the other hand, whilst clearly bigger, has recently hired 10 new community managers who go about answering posts etc. Could be money of course but, to me, it just sums up how PGG (and T10) view thei playerbase
Have you ever googled a problem about Windows or Xbox, found a link to a Microsoft forum and found multiple completely useless answers from Microsoft MVPs? Typically they have not read or comprehended the question at all but just given some unrelated or simplistic generic advice (the equivalent of have you tried turning it off and on again). There is something wrong with the culture in the company in my opinion. Poor quality people are getting hired and then promoted, and they are hiring other low quality people.
