Its been a long time since i did storys on my main acc but instarted doing them on this acc now and i noticed that all cars have offroad tires on?
For example both high and low car have them no mather what tires i put on them in last challange.
Horizon promo story so far, amg one. Viper. Corrado all have offroad tires. In short all cars that are in storys so far have them. I have no memory that they did when i did the storys a long time ago. Is this a bug or something by design?
And I think this affect the times too. For exemple in the first amg one mission the best time i could do was 7sec above 3 stars. And i have never had any problems doing 3 stars in anything

I havent noticed this but i guess they’ve put them because when a player plays a story chapter they’d usually be cutting short instead of driving the selected route. Which means going offroad a lot. And i suppose to make it a little easier for the average player to tacke these terrains they’ve equipped the cars with offroad tires.
It is kind of weird but at the same time it makes sense because everything this game does is looked at through the lens of being accessible to the mass player. The problem is they’ve taken the word “accessibility” a little too seriously.
I would agree that its something they would do bec in their mind it would made sence
but i also belive its some kind of bug bec of high low story, where you upgrade a car yourself and yet it will have offroad tires on even if i choose something else or leave stock tires on.
I noticed this too now and I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be like this or is it a bug.
For example, doing the Horizon Origins: Chapter 1 Mexico is impossible to 3 star if you stay on the road, but going in a straight line over the dunes from start to finish is pretty easy.
Theory:
It might be caused by changes to upgrade mechanics that came with Donut update, which added mid-event parts swapping. Since you don’t own Stories cars, game treates them as driveatar cars and automatically tyre-swaps them now. Notice how on map car still shows stock PI, but pause menu shows current PI as 895.
