A few changes to the “Prototype” section I would make.

• The 333SP, Audi R8s and BMW V12 LMRs together in an “LMP900” class, or even just together in the existing “LMP” class, as they all raced in that era of ACO and FIA prototype regulations, and against each other in 1999 and 2000 in both Europe and North America.

• Both Peugeot 908s and the R15++ could go in an LMP1 (Pre 2011) category, as even though the Oreca Pug and R15 raced in 2011, both were of the previous generation of regulations and were heavily restricted.

• Both R18s would go in an LMP1 (Post 2011) category, as they’re both of the current era of LMP1 cars, with fins and hybrid systems and whatnot.

I’m being pretty nitpicky, I know, but it’s what racing nerds like me do I suppose. Nothing you have to do, just my suggestions to help improve the list a bit. Still a great job overall.

As per your suggestions I’ve rearranged the prototypes into more appropriate categories that better show the comparative performance of the cars.

Awesome, I think that’s a great representation of the prototypes relative to one another, this is really going to become the definitive list, and I think it will help people wanting to run racing series as well.

Also, on the topic of Indy spec cars masquerading as Grand Prix cars, the Maserati 8CTF is also an Indy special, one that won the Indy 500 back to back in 1939 and 1940, both years driven by Wilbur Shaw.

FWIW, the BMW M1 Procar was originally part of a one make series and was then used in Group 4. I don’t think it ever raced as Group 5. Although the rules became a bit murky back then and G4 became G5 at some point.

Updated the Super Touring image.

Anyone know what the M1 was racing against in Group 4? I know it had its own series in 79-80 but it took part in Group 4 as well. Apparently there are a couple Group 5 M1s as well but that whole project was a disaster.

Someone mentioned that the Maserati 8CTF was actually the IndyCar variant. Looking at the three chassis the only differences I can spot is a different exhaust and slightly altered tail. Are we sure these differences didn’t exist before the 8CTF won at Indianapolis? Apparently all three models took part in 1940 and yet the cars as they exist today do not match.

While I’ve been watching the car reveals etc. like a hawk, seeing it all in visual form has just turned my excitement level up to 11 or maybe–MAYBE–even 12.

That IMSA/Gr. 4/Gr. 5 category looks especially juicy. Cannot wait. (those Ferraris–WOWZERS)

Pretty sure they are the same. Looked like the front bumpers might have been different but I used a pixel ruler and they are both identical.
