I see a big distinction between colours made for a specific car from a specific year, and all other colours made by its manufacturer. Some cars in Forza have correct Factory Colour selections, like the 2001 Audi RS4 B5, which was only offered in 6 colours - Nogaro Blue, Misano Red, Imola Yellow, Goodwood Green, Avus Silver, and Black; all of them and no more are available on the RS4 B5 in Forza. However, other versions of the B5 platform had much bigger colour selections. This Youtube video lists probably every single colour offered across all Audi A4/S4/RS4 B5 versions, and it turns out there are… 50 colours from that one model alone! For that reason, I think Forza should separate manufacturer colours into two similarly sounding but ultimately different groups - Factory Colours, which are colours available on the chosen car and only there; and Manufacturer Colours, which are all colours that car manufacturer has made on any of their cars, as many as possible. Of course, I don’t expect Forza to gather hundreds upon hundreds of colours for a single manufacturer, but combining colours from all cars of a brand available in the game, as well as throwing in some new ones, would make a massive difference. I, for one, would love to apply Paradise Green on my Audis, or Technoviolet on newer BMWs.
Maybe at some point there will be tech that allows for all manufacturer colours from every single car in the game to be interchangeable, as was the case in Xbox 360 Forza games…
Search the Forum for the real colours database - or google it. It has thousands of colours listed alphabetically with the Forza 0-100 codes, so you can make your own. It would be nice if they did follow your suggestion though, so I’ve voted.
