Why can't we share manufacturer colors anymore?

I remember in Horizon 2 I was able to paint one of my cars a manufacturer blue, for example, and then choose a different car, usually of the same brand, go to recent colors and use the same color. I liked sharing colors but now it seems like we can only share the recent basic colors that we either chose or tuned. No more sharing manufacturwr colors. That really sucks.

For example, I have an RS6 and an RS5. The RS5 has Sepang Blue as one of it’s colors and so I pick it and then go to paint my RS6 next. RS6, for some odd reason, doesn’t even have a manufacturer color that’s blue so I try to go to recent colors to use the same blue from the RS5. It doesn’t show up. No matter how many times I tried to do this, it just doesn’t work so obviously it’s a feature that didn’t return. Why? It’s really frustrating. I’d like to recreate the color myself but the paint options we have are so plain and limited that I can’t even create a custom metallic color so… yeah. Sorry if I’m complaining but does anybody else share my frustration?

Shouldn’t be that hard to recreate. It takes a little patience and trial and error. Take a picture of the car and color with your cell phone, then start over trying to mimick that on the big screen by using the option to change the base and metal flake colors.

Well it wasn’t easy but I got my RS6 Avant to look exactly like this with the exception of the Carbon Optic black accenting/carbon fiber pieces:

Such a pain in the ass that I had to do that. How stupid, waste of time when it would’ve taken just 5 seconds on any previous Forza.

Can’t you just hover over the stock color, press X, get the color code, then apply that color code to the new car? Or did they remove that feature?

For example, on FM4 Stryker Red (2013 Viper) is a metallic 1.00 0.89 0.65. Now I could pull up something like a Camaro SS, apply that paint type and code, and have Stryker Red on my Camaro SS.

Here you go.

Thanks mate, spreadsheet looks good and I look forward to using it. Currently all my Audi’s are pearl white

Thank you SO much! One color from Audi is missing though:

Estoril Blue from the 2013 S4…

But yeah again thanks a lot, I’m going to accurately replicate Sepang Blue when I get home today.

This is something that I wish they’d bring back. Recreating gloss paint is super easy, but it’s pretty much impossible to recreate the metallic paint colors.

I liked being able to take the paint from a Nissan Micra and put it on a Datsun 510. Now I can’t do stuff like that.

Update: Those codes are garbage. The colors are so inaccurate. I stuck with the “Sepang Blue” I concocted up earlier.

These colour codes are not garbage. You use the Metal Flake. Every code I have ever used off the google document has been correct.

Anyway, you do not have to use them, I merely posted the link to possibly help you with other colours as well.

I did use Metal Flake and instead I got a light blue that looks nothing like Sepang at all. I experimented a little and kept getting the same result. I gave up and replicated the color via the S4 and here is what I got.

Much better. Don’t get offended, G whiz…

I’m thinking the codes in that GDoc are correct, but seemingly only for next-gen Forzas. I tried several of them in FM4 for the heck of it and the colors just don’t come out right. I guess a lot has changed since FM4…

Regardless, thanks for sharing the link Skreamies!
