I remember gathering with friends in convoys in Forza Horizon 4 solely to participate in Online Team Races. At the time, I didn’t particularly enjoy racing against other players, as I was frankly quite poor at it, haha. Yet, Online Team Races were precisely what helped me ease into competitive racing. Of course, in Forza Horizon 5, you still can form a convoy with friends and engage in Online Races, but personally, the experience feels different. There’s still an underlying sense of competition, whereas in Team Races, it wasn’t necessary to dominate or secure the lead - simply accumulating points for the team and maintaining one’s position in the race was enough.
I believe it’s worth discussing the advantages and disadvantages of this mode. I’ve also attached a link to my suggestion to vote and a little poll below.
I think custom championships similar to how they existed in FH3 are a better solution.
They were similar but way more flexible. Online Team Adventures had such weird restrictions around it, like how it HAD to be team-based, or how drivers got literally nothing for competing in them. I understand a low reward to prevent farming, but no reward? Made no sense. And why couldn’t I set up an offline version against drivatars, or have a co-op version against drivatars?
Ideally I would like a solution that incorporates the functionality of both, and honestly I don’t understand why it’s such a hill to climb for us to have tools like this as players, especially considering that we had them in the past.
But yeah, Online Team Adventures is still better than the nothing we got in 5. The game desperately needs gameplay depth, especially when it comes to racing, and something that combined the functionality of Custom Championships and Online Team Adventures into a single mode seems like a slam dunk for adding that depth to the game.
The title was changed by mods, and I didn’t really have it in me to argue against it. I wanted to promote a more flexible mode than what existed in 3, but at this point I’ll take a mediocre solution over no solution at all.
