A user on Reddit said they were banned for "Suspicious Generosity". How does that work?

So as the title says, Suspicious Generosity. I’m not even sure how that works. If you have almost every car in game like I do, you can get a ton of duplicate cars. You can get them from wheelspins, gifts, festival playlist rewards, etc.

Everytime there is a wheelspin you can get car, if it’s a duplicate, gift the car. Get the seasonal challenges, get another car. So you start gifting them. How is giving away cars suspicious? It’s built into the game. You can’t gift them to any specific person either and from what I’ve read, FH5 is supposed to have 35 million players. I don’t get it.

There’s 720 cars and I have 960 at this point. That’s 240 duplicates. Am I gonna get banned by giving them away?

Does anyone have an answer?

Altruism never pays.

Seems more likely they were dropping multiple million credit cars in the auction house for next to nothing. They get really nervous and sore when someone messes up the hot mess fake economy there.

So, no, you’re safe gifting anything you want.

Pretty sure it’s not related to sending gifts. I’m quite high prestige and have gifted thousands, meaning nearly all duplicates I’ve ever received.

Same. I have every car in the game so gift everything where I get the option to. I’m prestige level 6.

If true, its odd they feel the need to look out for ‘suspicious generosity’, but turn a blind eye to level 10/2999 days old accounts

Also,if true, i’ll have to revise my plans for getting rid of my unused credits

Can’t seem to give those things away in auction house  Of course I can only list them at the minimum allowed and I don’t recall what that is now, but they simply never seem to sell. I don’t have the collection of them you have  just one extra as I recall.

I think you’re safe gifting them to drain your credits

Wow, that’s generous! Just the spirit of Horizon, isn’t it? Shall we send a ban?

it was a pretty random comment, and they specifically said it was for gifting. I’ve never heard of this, would need to see more specifics but I’m interested. can’t.find any other mention of this anywhere

I’m gonna call… on it then. Pics or it didn’t happen.

(for clarity… not you geistwriter, whoever was saying it on Reddit  )

the forza subreddit is okay, certainly doesn’t register on the Twitter scale of nastiness

anyway, the one thing that occurred to me is if too many are gifted from spins too quickly, there’s usually a minute or so between my gifts even if I do 20 in a row

hardly likely to try and emulate the issue, though

another thought, maybe too many expensive cars gifted too quickly, so @PentEd1231 might need to worry about gifting those Mercs

This was my thought too; depends how it is monitored and whether they are using auction house or garage values.Whilst worth ‘only’ 250million from AH,they are 3billion from garage.

Having read the thread and finding the original claim and replies I still can’t believe it. I’ve done what the user thinks caused it (multiple wheelspins, gifting dupes) and not had a warning or ban.

They do 10 to 20 spins at a time and gifting 99% of cars. I’ve done dozens of regular and super spins in batches a few times, and nearly a hundred super and over a hundred regular one time, gifting all the cars that popped up because they were all dupes and I don’t need the credits from the chore that is the auction house. No warning or ban.

Something else has to be going on. Or, since I haven’t done mass spins in a while, this is a new “policy” from our “beloved” game ?

Yeah, it’s not GTPlanet by any means.

Well, I used to do batches in rapid mode and never a ban or warning. Likewise unlikely to try to reproduce the issue although it’s tempting to satisfy the curiosity itch but I don’t get wheelspins like I used to since I went on the 20 points a season diet. Then it hit me, to get the wheelspins to try it I’d probably farm them somehow. Maybe that’s what flagged ? Not the gifting but the rapid accumulation of spins themselves ? Doesn’t explain the support ticket claiming it was “suspicious generosity” but then I’ve not known support to offer ANY explanation for anything beyond “SOLVED ! Tell us how awesome we are !”

Yeah I wouldn’t trust cases like this. The majority of the time it’s a legitimate cheater trying to get sympathy on the internet by lying about their case. There are exceptions, of course, but they are rarer than the liars.

I mean, you’re talking about someone who was willing to cheat in a video game. Lying on the internet in order to create sympathetic groundswell isn’t too far of a stretch.

I’m all for holding the fire to PGG when they deserve it, but we must not let that devolve into rampant speculation and witch-hunts. Plenty of undeniable, tangible issues to contend with.

“Suspicious Generosity” is not a phrase that is part of any official enforcement status information from Forza Support. I suppose it’s possible there was a browser translation here, but in any case there’s no concern about gifting all your garage cars. We encouraged that activity during the holidays without any enforcement issue.

Refer to the Conduct and Rules for enforceable issues and the link to check Ban History at Forza Support if you have any concerns about your account.
