A Tribute to Forza Motorsport and Turn 10
Hey Forza Family.
I know it’s been a tough week for everyone. With uncertainty and rumour I think it’s time for some love and positivity.
We should have a massive meetup to honour ALL the Developers past and present at Turn 10. To show them we are still here and we have your back. To thank everyone who has made the last 20 years the most enjoyable and fun. To honour the late nights, the deadlines and the sacrifices they made so that we could have a game that’s been perfected and evolved with each generation of Xbox.
Forza Motorsport is more than a game it’s a way of life here in our community. Many people met each other through the game. Some have remained friends and I’d even venture some met in real life too. Making bonds never to be broken.
I posted this in the Insiders forum and got amazing feedback.
We can post our own photos of the amazing journey Motorsport has had over the course of 20 years. Also the meetup should be at Fujimi Kaido naturally given it’s significance in the Game.

Hi guys! Today it’s a sad day, it’s the last day I will ever again support Xbox/Microsoft after almost 22 years. It’s a sad day because I just got to know that Forza Motorsport is dead, a game that made me a huge fan of Xbox and Forza itself, a game that was ahead of it’s time. I can’t imagine a platform without exclusives to play… Forza horizon is on playstation now motorsport is dead, gears of war is on playstation, sea of thieves on playstation almost every exclusive will go there. So what’s the point of me having and Xbox ? Anything now can be an Xbox I kind understand the concept of playing on a ROG ally or phone but why should I buy a Xbox console ? All of their games are on playstation… I’ve been subscribed to game pass ultimate for 8 years now but it’s has come to an end. I thought that the game was doing well and we got nice updates, I know I said bad stuff about the devs but that was my sadness of seeing a great make that marked my childhood going down the drain. I don’t know what else to say I’m just desolated. It’s like they don’t even care for the people who had moments of their lives in that game or others… Everything that I said will not change a thing so…Guess it’s a goodbyes🫂 to you all despite not knowing none of you but we have something in common that is the love for Forza Motorsport… Good luck to all of you. Love from Portugal

The games not shutting down, you can still play it if you enjoy it. The only unknown is if theyll add any new content or not.

As a game pass user I assume you have no digital library you want to keep access to then?
Or are you going to repurchase on playstation?
This is probably the last forza motorsport that’s what I’m saying… And with more than 50% staff cut I can’t wait to see what next updates will be… Less people working on them…
I do have a lot physical games, actually I’m not in multiplayer games now, I’m preferring single player games. Im not gonna purchase playstation unless they do better than Xbox, lunch a better console in every aspect and keep launching great exclusives
I agree, this is the last game made by this team at least. But i dont see them making another one anyway unless this game starts making money.

I feel the Microsoft news from last week has put everything on pause.

At least one mod was active over the weekend, firefighting some posts and temporarily locking some threads. Whoever it was probably either had no news or no permission to reveal it.
My feeling is that the current situation warrants a statement from the studio head, not something passed down to a forum mod who will take the flak.

There is simply too much evidence that Fred Russell’s statement is accurate. If it were just one thing, you might write it off as gossip. But not when you look at the full picture of recent events.

Update 21 makes several changes which suggest moving into a maintenance mode instead of the live service model that requires manual support. Content updates move from curated to automated. Many tours were made permanently available. Challenge hub is used for car unlocks and those are now going to be released on monthly cadence. New challenge rewards are previous releases.
-
Last series of updates included a thematic tribute to the franchise.
-
They shut down the ability for players to create threads in the forums. This is about reducing moderator burden and controlling the narrative.
-
Obviously massive staff reduction.

MS/XGS/T10 have not responded to any of these articles published by dozens of media outlets (large and small). If they had any real future plans for the FM franchise they would have likely made a statement by now.

This game won’t make more money because I don’t think that now with more than 50% people off it will be hard improve graphics and gameplay etc etc… for it to make money it had to be like cyberpunk 2077 and make a huge comeback. Just basically it had to beat GT7. Now imagine if Sony is cooking PS6 and GT8 next year it’s the end of the line for Forza. Its really sad man, all over these years I bought Xbox because of the exclusives, Forza ,gears, Forza horizon… I grew up with this ecosystem… It’s hard to believe man. I’m speechless
Cyberpunk had a lot of sales at launch so the playerbase was there, they just did the right thing and made it better. This game didnt have those kind of sales and while it incrementally improved over time the damage was already done as they didnt retain most of the launch numbers.
The best comparison would be with Acc as it released in a poor state but eventually gained traction. In Acc’s case they benefited from stagnant competition and a focus on gt3 cars. If it was to release now, it wouldnt be so successful as the competition is stronger.
There were just too many issues both large and small with this game. I really dont think it ever stood a chance.

Got to be honest with themselves, they mucked this version up with the daft decision to ‘level up’ your cars. FM2 and 3 were good games but even they stuck you to a single car for a 5 races cup. I just think people don’t have the patience for that these days.
Younger players are used to flicking through 5 minute videos on tic-tok and youtube and haven’t got the attention span to keep using the same car that long. I myself have gotten used to Horizon where I can switch out the car after every race. I liked choosing a new one, adding the upgrades and livery, then racing it once or twice or just bombing around the map and then moving on to the next car. There’s like 900 cars and I made about 500 tunes. Of course I want to try them all!! I can’t do that in MS and I got bored with the structure within days.
The races, tracks, cars, sound, graphics - everything that makes the game famous was really good. The structure, menus, championships, careers, options and styles of races was all just not good enough for me. I’ve seen better over the years in older and other titles and it’s like no-one had learned from the past and tried to improve on what came before. Basic stuff was just not there.
So yes, hats off to turn 10 for simultaneously making a fantastic looking and sounding game whilst killing the franchise by not staying up to date and making it more of a slog and difficult to enjoy. It’s not an RPG.
