A list of things I Sincerely Hope T10 will improve upon or add to the game

As we all know, FM '23 is ridden with bugs, glitches, and a lack of content. The upcoming update 3.0 still seemed very lackluster and was a big let down for most of us. I think I summarized the wishes and desires of most of the player base in my list. And I sincerely hope a Dev or some Commander in Chief at Forza Motorsport / Turn10 gets to read this. (Although I might have a better chance at winning the lottery). I am also completely done with submitting tickets and giving suggestions for each individual feature in the suggestions hub. So I’m doing it this way.

More improved gameplay features

  • Remove or alter the leveling / CarPG / CarXP system. There are a few strategies to approach this as I’ve seen posted in the forums here. A few examples of which are;
  1. Remove the system as a whole, leaving the car levels as is to see what cars you’ve driven the most and thus which are your favorites. All upgrades are unlocked upon buying the car and bought with credits.
  2. Leave the system as is but lower the level down from 25 to 10 to unlock all parts and give all the necessary car points to be able to use all the unlocked parts.
  3. Leave the system in place, but instead of unlocking parts and CP per individual car, do it per individual car manufacturer.
  4. All upgrades are purchasable with regular credits and installable upon buying the car, but the car leveling stays to unlock other rewards (say cosmetics, special car liveries, manufacturer bonuses, brand specific race suits upon leveling multiple cars from a particular manufacturer to level 50, say you level up 10 Ferrari’s to level 50, you unlock a Team Ferrari F1 race suit).
  5. A more progressive system, after your car reaches level 10 for example, you get a multiplier to get to level 20 faster, at level 20 you get a bigger multiplier to get to level 30-40 faster etc.
  • Increase the impact rubbering in of the track has.
In my 2 months of playing this game, I have never noticed a lack of grip or sudden oversteer when driving over the parts that are most rubbered in. An adjustment in racing lines is never needed. It seems like it’s purely a cosmetic feature.
  • Accelerate fuel & tyre wear in career mode and private multiplayer lobbies to be at the same level as it is in online/featured multiplayer.
  • Add a track radar.
  • Add weather prediction or an “incoming rain” warning.
Currently you can see to what weather option the track is set. But there is no way of being able to guess if and when and for how long it will start raining. If the track is still dry as you cross the start/finish line and are on lap 2, and a few moments later it starts raining, the track becomes an ice skating rink instantly. If you are on race tyres, good luck navigating 2/3 of the track slipping about until you can finally make it to the pits and swap to wet tyres.
  • Add permanent open class lobbies.
There has been a small improvement made in that there will be 2 open class lobbies after update 3.0. But this isn’t enough. This is Forza. The thing that makes Forza unique is that it has always been a title where you can race in whatever you want, whenever you want, and however you want. Which is currently not possible.
  • Add community run servers + server browser.
in line with my previous statement that Forza always was and should be a game that emphasizes freedom of choice in racing, Community run servers would allow for that. The Forza Community is extremely creative and capable of making their own racing servers. This would allow for open drift lobbies, Nascar lobbies, GT4 lobbies, DTM lobbies, F1 lobbies, JDM spec lobbies, Manufacturer Cup Racing lobbies, Destruction Derby lobbies, you name it!
  • Add the option to pull down a sunvisor on your helmet.
In some weather scenarios it’s near impossible to see the track with certain sun positions, or on a wet track that became super reflective. Real racing drivers have a Ray-Ban like polaroid filter on their helmet visors to block these reflections. I’ve seen many many instances of drivers ramming into others or going full send into a barrier because they can’t see!
  • Reduce the amount of exhaust flames.
We get it pops, bangs, and flames are cool. But to have them occur on nearly every single car on every other downshift is ridiculous, breaks immersion, and has no place in Forza Motorsport with the current amount. Keep this in Horizon.
  • More options for “crew chief” voices and more useful call outs.
Currently the “crew chief” is as useless as wearing a raincoat in the shower. Give us more voice options with different accents of both male and female voices. A Scottish bloke, A brummy, An angry french man, a lady from the southern U.S., I don’t care, just more options. But also, and more importantly, make them give useful call outs. Have them call out our track position, how much fuel we have left, how much wear we have in our tyres, suggestions on when to pit, caution us for incoming rain, and dare I say even track spotting functions?
  • Improve upon the driver safety & skill rating accuracy and the associated match making.
  • Improve upon the accuracy of the penalty system. (if someone rams me off track, I should not get a penalty for going off track).
  • Sort rims by weight class rather then alphabetically. Or sort them by weight first and then alphabetically.
  • Please, I’m begging you, give us more rear aero options other than the stock forza wing ON ALL CARS, it ruins beautiful cars. In some cases, especially in cars with active rear aero (Ford GT '17, McLaren P1), the option to purchase the “race rear aero” upgrade without actually placing a rear wing would be ideal.
  • The waiting time to join a race is too long. There have been plenty of occurrences where I wanted to either join the Forza GT hopper, Forza Touring cars hopper, or an Open Class race, which all had a sign up time of 15+ to 25+ minutes. At which point I’m just closing the game an do and do something else. This needs improvement.

Bugs that are still very prevalent and need fixing asap

  • Game crashes to home screen randomly (XSX)
  • Car liveries not showing in garage or list of owned cars (XSX)
  • Lighting in the painting booth is way too dim (XSX)
  • Replays in multiplayer are either not saving or not playing (XSX)
  • Flickering of shadows making it look like a stroboscope, even with RT off (XSX)
  • Downloading liveries and applying tunes take ages to load and often lead to a crash (XSX)
  • Browsing through the car list takes long for the cars to load in (XSX)
  • Game crashes after downloading livery (XSX)
  • Game goes into loading screen after the intermission starts in online multiplayer, causing the player to be unable to change fuel or tyres (XSX)
  • Rims, Brake calipers, and certain body parts still can not be painted on many cars (XSX)
  • Manufacturer colors are inaccurately displayed (XSX)
  • Parts of the track disappear, re-appear, or black out (XSX)
  • Colors in general are inaccurately displayed in the paint booth (XSX)
  • Game sometimes kicks you out of the server mid race for no reason (XSX)
  • Headlights on car thumbnails are blacked or greyed out on most cars (XSX)
  • There is no way to view what rims look like while selecting rims in the upgrade menu due to poor lighting and poor car view angle (XSX)
  • Rear view and wing mirrors are either not or poorly visible in cockpit view on most cars (XSX)
  • Cockpit FOV varies drastically from car to car despite being set to the same level (XSX)
  • Loading textures is often too slow, causing the environment to look like early 2000’s graphics.
  • The graphical fidelity and reflections of the cars are subpar and need upgrading to at least Forza Horizon 5 standards.
  • Almost all cars I’ve driven have very jagged lines on the instrument clusters, center consoles, steering columns and everything else that is supposed to be round. This needs improvement ASAP. It makes the cockpit view once again look like a game from 2002.
  • I can not even begin to list all the cars that have audio issues. In short 98% of the cars on the roster have generic, inaccurate, and extremely subpar exhaust, engine, and cockpit audio. Nearly all car audio files desperately need an overhaul.

This is my list, thank you for reading, and please someone forward it to high ranking official at Turn10 studios.

High Hope buddy, your list is so long they will not be able to complete in next 6 decades. Look at the tiny change logs for monthly updates and calculate. It’s still time for your to sell your XSX before more 3rd class games every year depreciate it’s value to that of junk that you may need to weigh and sell as scarp.

Point is that I do have many other games I enjoy on Gamepass. Mainly the Battlefield titles and some other racing games Like Dirt Rally 2.0 and Grid Legends. I also love playing Doom. So I guess I should start an account on a certain website about fans and get that PS5 money.

That would be a good investment I think. Get Baldur’s Gate 3 too, it’s really awesome.

Now, now. No need to sell your XSX if you already have it. That’s Sony fanboi talk, to be blunt. There’s no place for that, here.

Now, as to the list… It’s extensive, and that’s the main problem of why Forza Motorsport has such a huge, uphill battle to win to become decent. Notice, I wrote, decent, not good, or compelling.

It’s suffering the one-two punch of bad design choices (systems) + Technical problems that prevent the game from even functioning. I would rather have the game WORK, first and foremost, then add content because as has been mentioned, there are plenty of other games to play in the meantime while they fix FM to the acceptable level it should have been at launch.

FM is just “there” for me right now, and I am sure for many others? It’s not even on most people’s radars judging by its game ranking (459th), and most people with Game Pass, have moved on, too. Very few people are playing on Steam… Because the game just doesn’t work properly on PC.

This is why I believe T10 needs to prioritize fixing the game first, and then add content second. It’d be nice if they did everything as they go, but let’s be real. Adding things while you’re patching up the sinking ship could cause the ship to sink faster, ironically.

Oh no doubt they need to have a big focus on stability/optimization, but they need to add at least a few features too. This way you try to beat back both monsters at the same time, at least you show you’re trying. Personally I’d prefer by weekly updates trying to knock out the biggest problems stability wise and then have a feature or two in the monthly update

Unfortunately, Turn 10 has firmly planted themselves in the position where they have to do both, and they have to do it at speeds faster than they’re allegedly working at right now. Anything less is going to just hasten a premature end that seems highly likely, if not outright inevitable.

We shouldn’t be getting one track per update - we should be getting two, minimum. Four or five cars should be 10 or 12. Content features and adjustments need to be rolling out much faster. No content at all should be rotated out. Once again, whatever post-launch Game Pass-driven plans for Player Engagement need to be chucked into a fire pit, because the game has changed. It’s now about keeping the patient alive, not trying to milk it for all it’s worth.

I’m wondering (hoping?) if there are serious talks between T10, and Xbox, about how badly this game is doing?

It’s hard to say, because every post-launch press release, even the Forza Monthly, seems like they are just in utter denial, and/or are like there’s nothing they really can say, that would restore the community’s confidence FM can be fixed, and become a better game down the line?

I would hope there in-depth meetings and new plans to not only fix the game, but add tons of content… Even if it’s stuff from previous games… Because that’s the only thing that’s going to keep players around long enough for them to actually be able to fix the game, like you wrote.

This is my hope, but the realist in me says, they’re just going to plod along until the walking corpse that is FM just drops dead, completely, with no more players around March, of next year? That would be a terrible end to a legacy, but a deserved one for this installment of the franchise.

You might think T10 is in denial watching Forza every month, but I’m sure they’re well aware of the problems players are having, but for marketing reasons, they pretend it’s all good.

It’s never the lie that kills you. It’s the cover-up.

Trying to fake it until they make it will only end up dooming them in the end, and probably worse than being upfront and honest about the situation would be.

The real problem with Forza is that it was released too early and I think that, like Cyberpunk, it’s not the developer who is behind the release

This list is a great idea and I would add that it lacks an endurance mode with tire and fuel management and a mode like PGR with cone avoidance for the career

You could file that under “community run servers” theoretically…
