This is why we can’t have nice things.
“Argue for your limitations, and you get to keep them.”
What do you think you’re accomplishing by defending this limitation?
The Xbox 360 was capable of 60 FPS multiplayer 16 years ago.
Do you want everyone to be limited to 60 FPS multiplayer for another 16 years?
I sure don’t.
If I had spent the money to buy a game console that marketed 120 FPS support only to then be told that a new flagship title (made by a studio owned by the same 2-trillion-dollar parent company that owns the console & online gaming platform) is capping multiplayer to half of that capability, I’d feel like I got ripped-off with a bait-&-switch.
“Dev” is collecting lots of data so they know how many ppl play on 120fps with the consoles/pc’s.
It’s a racing game and more fps gives u advantage over ppl with lower fps. Same in shooters. Do the math or search forum was doing years ago.
It’s a common thing to limit the fps in multiplayer, lots of games do it internally without showing on fps counter. There is still servers around limiting even lower to 30 with xx players. Some games without lock give lowfps players an bonus internally so ppl limit their 320fps pc’s to benfit.
Fps limit reduces input delay… On other side u have network latency, local latency, … CPU running faster than GPU… Movement predicition…
With fps limit dev has chance to control something, nothing wrong there and nothing worth to cry about… And it reduces cheating, movement at fixed timestep ensures all player can do max distance of xx regardless of fps or illegal movements. Server runs at same timestep so u have better prediction wich results in smoother multiplayer experience…
And if u need 1000+ fps in 4k u can switch to singleplayer
Look them driving around with 270km/h but it feels slow and this doesn’t change by rendering same image twice with 120fps and on your end it doesn’t matter if u see him driving like this with 60 or 320fps
Stop being nonsense and i dont care what you think. You can be rich who cares. Plus you didnt understand the sentence that i wrote (its difficult to pc gamers both 4k and high hz ) it MEANS 4k high Hz monitors are too expensive. Go compare prices in the net 4k 60 hz monitors and 4k 144hz or 165hz monitors. So before making comment think twice and Don’t try to make people accept your opinion. Be assured that I know much more about PCs than you.
It’s definitely a bit disappointing that it’s capped to 60fps in multiplayer. I’m assuming it’s mainly because of some technical issue with FPS affecting physics, that does happen in some games. I’d have hoped it’d have been fixed for this game, but when the Xbox consoles can’t play it over 60fps I guess it’s not a high priority for Turn 10.
I’m a bit doubtful it’s for balance/fairness reasons, because playing at 120fps vs 60fps isn’t going to actually make much difference in lap times if physics are otherwise identical. It would become a competitive factor for the top/pro players, but not for the vast majority of the audience.
You don’t even need a high end PC to go above 60fps and high refresh rate 1080p and 1440p monitors are really common these days. I definitely don’t think it’s unplayable at 60fps, but when you’re used to higher framerates it’s not ideal and you miss the extra smoothness.
thats a weird way to reply. as if iracing offers the same as FM but just with unlocked framerate.
honestly mate, think your reply through before posting.
The forced 60 fps parity on PC is a terrible design choice, it’s lowering the standards. Instead of offering a 120 FPS option on consoles, Turn 10 chose to add a failed ray tracing feature for marketing reasons, “ray tracing on track.” Guess what? Nobody pays attention to it.
GT7 offers VR and 120 FPS in competitive modes, which is definitely more important than having flawed reflections on car bodies. In iRacing, probably the most competitive simulation on the market, players can play smoothly at 300 fps or in VR, and no one complains. Give players gaming options instead of limiting them; parity is an illusion. Some will have $15,000 rigs and 49-inch screens, while others will have crappy PCs and run at 37 FPS. That’s just how it is.
If the game must be locked at 60fps because the developers couldn’t be bothered to fix the physics engine in the years of development time they had, at least support a DLSS version that is now 1 year old instead of a DLSS version that is now 2 years old. Because DLSS Frame Generation was introduced a year ago. Using that, the game wouldn’t have to render above 60fps which would break the engine. But then PC players can still enjoy a smoother experience with minimal input latency addition.
I am completely disappointed with this release, and that after all that time I waited for it. Unless this game can execute a CyberPunk-like comeback I will never return to this franchise.
Hi guys
I love this Forza , and I play on PC.
But was really disappointed when I learned that the developers had chosen to limit the multiplayer at 60 fps
I really hope, one day… , a patch to remove the limit , especially if it s the game service and have a long life.
When I play solo and after I go to multi (the main mode I play) , the game seems to be so slow and the sensation of speed is really bad compare to solo.
It s a really a pain to play like that.
In FH5 or in FM7 , there s no FPS limit , even with crossplay , so why they pu a such limit on FM ?
There absolutely is a MASSIVE, very noticeable difference between 60 and 120hz. I have a 165hz monitor and I can very easily tell when I’m running under 60hz, since I’m using Gsync, even when I hit 58 or less FPS I notice it. When I go to 120hz or above, it’s buttery smooth and extremely evident.
I most likely have far more experience than you with PCs since i’m 52 and have been gaming my entire life as well as building, optimising and fixing PCs. I also do tons of research. I’ve most likely forgotten more than you have ever learned.
Say what you want, but you are, factually, incorrect.
There is a big difference between 60hz and 120hz, but having freesync I don’t mind 60hz at all. It’s like butter with freesync. It’s when I drop below 48fps when things start to look bad since my freesync range is 48-120hz.
I wish when you choose performance mode that you get 60fps everywhere. Why not? But instead the menus are 30fps, so are pre and post race animations and pitstops. It’s jarring to switch between 30 and 60 and it isn’t necessary. Do Turn 10 think it is more ‘cinematic’? Give us the choice please. Oh and replays are 30fps too - ugh. Turn 10 love 30fps, I don’t know why.
