4k60p Optimised for Series X Enhancements?

If there’s no chance of a remaster or re-release, surely this can be patched in as a 1st party title? It’s my favourite Horizon game. And even the 1st could have 4k60p at this point. Come on, these backwards compatibility possibilities not taken still.

Any word on this from the relevant persons, @JetPartySalad @Chupacaubrey?

Sadly not possible. When FH4 was enhanced for the Series consoles it wasn’t done by PGG themselves but by another developer studio. So if FH2 or any other Forza game would be optimized, they would have to outsource it, which costs money and if PGG doesn’t get the ok from Xbox or Microsoft then it won’t happen.
We saw with the catastrophic release of FM that the publishers and investors of the Forza franchise only care for money and therefore: FH2 wouldn’t generate significant amounts of revenue for it to be remastered or optimized for newer hardware.

But I mean just a back compat 4k and 60fps patch, like Fable 2, or various older games got. Microsoft stated at some point that these take no work from the dev, Xbox team just sorts it.

From an old Gamespot article on it, “Using what Microsoft calls the Heutchy method, games originally rendered at as low as 360p will benefit from reconstruction and upscaling to 4K.”

So all they really seem to need is the nod from Playground/Turn 10, and the Xbox engineering team can patch in Heutchy 4k with FPS boost. It was the Resolution Boost demonstrated with GoW Ultimate Edition, but we’ve heard nothing since.

I think its a simillar story with FH3. On PC it runs on 60 FPS since launch, but that was never an option on Xbox.
But maybe wait on an emulated version of FH2 on PC.

Even if the Xbox/Turn 10 teams gave the nod for it to happen, you still wouldn’t get it. Microsoft’s Backwards Compatibility program ended well over 3 years ago…the final 70 games were released in November 2021 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original Xbox being released:

“While we continue to stay focused on preserving and enhancing the art form of games, we have reached the limit of our ability to bring new games to the catalog from the past due to licensing, legal and technical constraints”

The only way it would happen is if either PGG did it or outsourced it to a 3rd party as mentioned previously

Can’t believe how well this game holds up with the Dolby Atmos app and auto HDR. In 4k60p it would be insane…
