Hello guys & gals. Just got a Thrustmaster 458 spider (non FFB budget wheel) and it feels horrible on FM6. I’ve played with all deadzones and wheel sensitivity settings and the wheel feels horrible. I just can’t get it feeling right. I figured I’d try it on Horizon 2 and it’s great. No problems whatsoever. Why does it feel so bad on FM6?
I’ve also tried it on Project Cars and it feels fantastic there.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Also, apologies if there have been similar threads, I did use search but got no real concrete answers. If anyone can point me in the direction of a thread which has any good solutions or workarounds, that would also be much appreciated
Thank you.
Mine is working fine on Sensitvity 4 (minimal) and steering normal. I hear everyone has problems if they use simulation setting.
Ah of course… I completely forgot about simulation/normal settings. Thanks buddy, will give it a whirl.
Im getting this wheel tommorow.
Is it worth getting as BCFCBristolRed cant get his to work with forza 6 as I have never had a wheel before.
Also BCFCBristolRed is yours working now buddy ?
My honest answer is that having spent some time with it in FM6, it’s ok. I found that somehow I’m quicker with a controller though. Sensitivity 3 and normal steering seems to work best for me.
I also play Project Cars and the wheel works a lot better there. It even recognises the exact wheel you’re using and I spent minimal time setting it up to be for me. I’m a lot quicker with the wheel than the controller on PCars.
Also, the wheel works fine with FH2.
I can live without FFB for the low price and the build quality is also good for the price. Overall, if I only played Forza with it, I probably wouldn’t recommend it but as I also play PCars a lot, I think it’d be worth a buy.
For the money I think it is excellent. No force feedback but once set up it is responsive and accurate.
I have this wheel also and it works fine in FM6.
I recommend using Sensitivity setting 3 as 4 can cause oversteer problems in sharp corners.
Also recommend using Normal steering rather than sim steering.
Its because its only 240 degrees of rotation. Barely turns past 90 degrees. Better wheels have 720 degrees of rotation
The wheel also has sensitivity settings on it which mimic higher degrees of rotation up to a point. mode 1 is 240 where as mode 4 is much more like 900. Mode 4 is fine for ovals like Indy and Daytona and feels like a 900 degree wheel on those corners but when you go into tighter corners it starts to be an issue as once you turn past a point the steering gets much quicker and leads to oversteering the car quite easily. Mode 3 is more like 720 and gives a bit more turning before it quickens, In mode three it works well on most tracks but still quickens in tight hair pins. Modes 1 and 2 are to sensitive to suit my tastes and mode 4 can cause issues on tracks with any tight corners but mode 3 is pretty good overall.

Have this for a couple of days now, don’t use it often, but works fine for me.
- dead zones 0-100
- normale steering
- wheel Sensitivity 2
Sim steering with this wheel did not work for me until now, but i will give this more time.

I’m going to have a really good play with it later to try and gauge a “perfect” setting for me. It’s strange how it works almost faultless with FH2 but needs a bit more setting up with FM6.
