2014 Request for Forza Community Rides

If you have read Heavy Metal Affliction, you know we feature the cars that are owned and loved by folks in the Forza community–and a few special finds I come across in my travels.

The Request for Forza Community Rides thread is your chance to share your ride and to be taken into consideration for a Heavy Metal Affliction story about you and your car. Not only will Forza fans around the world get to read about what makes you a car lover, a Forza lover and what makes your ride special, I always reward HMA candidates with their heart’s desire of Forza gifts.

So what are you waiting for? Snap a decent photo of your ride and tell me a bit about why we should cover your story?

Don’t bother posting a bunch of photos, one will do, should you be chosen we want to save the details for the story.

This is just a submission thread, I will draw out the details of your story once you have been chosen, so be brief.

You must do two things to be considered.
1. Post a picture and a brief introduction to your car. 100 words or LESS.
2. Send me an email at johniwanna@hotmail.com with “Feature my car in HMA” in the subject line. Put any further details or photos in the email, all I need initially is the brief intro and a picture and a way to contact you outside the forums.

I will not respond to every single submission, but if your car is chosen, expect to hear from me soon. I usually clear out my mail and PMs on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.

Thanks, and I look forward to your submissions.

CAR: Chevrolet Chevy SS Coupé Serie 2 Opus (Argentinean equivalent to third-generation US Novas)
YEAR: 1978

Greetings, everyone. My name is Ariel, I am a sociologist born and living in Argentina.

I have been an avid Xbox fan (GT: Kaji AF16) and Forza player for the last 4 years, but only recently I decided to show here my humble 250 CID-engined Chevrolet Chevy coupe (I named her Utopia, as I had dreamt with this car for more than 20 years).

In Argentina, GM has been represented almost exclusively by the Chevrolet brand, and its most representative model is the legendary Chevy, which is –as many of you probably know- a Latin American version of the third generation (68-72/`74) Nova. Utopia was part of a special edition known as “Opus” (only 296 were made).

I drove her for 5 beautiful years. I even recreated her in Forza 4.

Unfortunately, I can´t tell a happy ending -at least, as of now-. On January 17th, 2014, Utopia was stolen. I am still fighting to find her.

Looking forward to tell the whole story of Utopia,

Ariel

I bought the car last September after much looking for a Mustang, because my father had a few growing up. Then Gran Torino Sport popped up. Call up the owner, who bought it in 1973 from the first owner, go look at it. Nothing wrong, then the Master cylinder and brakes go out and the radiator begins to leak. Changed them out and did a bit of carb tweaking and then done. We then replaced the old wheels with new Mag 500’s and overall she has needed little work.

My car is a 1978 Chrysler Sigma SE. My particular Sigma was based on a 3rd generation Mitsubishi Galant Sigma and was built here in Australia in the Chrysler factory under licence from Mitsubishi. My Sigma is the top spec SE model (which in itself was already a bit rare as most people went for the cheaper trim levels) but mine also has really rare options like vinyl roof, air conditioning and leather seats. My car came equipped with a Hemi 2.0 4 cylinder 8 valve SOCH engine, putting out around 100hp when new (same engine as found in the US on many Dodge vehicles, the 4G52 or G52B). I have since upgraded the engine to a larger capacity 4G54 (aka G54B, found in many cars such as the Starion/Conquest, Montero/Pajero, etc) and modified it extensively. I built it as a naturally aspirated engine. The capacity has been increased from 2555cc closer to 2600cc, flat top pistons fitted, lots of head work done including larger valves, stage 1 camshaft, ported and polished, heavily worked intake with larger polished and port matched ports, Weber 34ADM carburettor, chrome air filter, and so many other mods. It looks stock apart from the chrome air filter, but thanks to all the internal mods and 12:1 compression ratio, it’s putting out a healthy 160hp. Next on the agenda is the fitment of a high flow sports exhaust system and upgrade the camshaft to a stage 4 made especifically for this engine. Power will then rise to around 180hp.

The car is in good non-restored condition and has ultra rare Sigma Turbo Globe Montego mag wheels (15x6") shod with 195 wide rubber on the front and 205 rubber on the rear. The front brakes and master cylinder have been upgraded to much larger and efficient parts and the suspension is lowered and from a circuit racing Sigma a friend of mine used to own. It’s a bit bumpy but grips really well and I’m often leaving many new cars behind on the road.

Best of all, I’ve done 100% of the work myself on my own in my small 1 car garage, including the engine swap, all engine work, suspension work and brake upgrade. I had still to have it all checked and signed off by an authorized mechanic to get it certified and road registered as a classic car under my local club registration scheme for classic cars.

More info and photos including full build on the website I made dedicated to this type of car: http://www.galant-sigma.com/search/label/My Sigma.

Hello my name is Justin in high school I saved up and bought a 1971 Chevrolet C10 Pickup because it was cheap and working well my dad said it would be fun to restore it into its former glory. so I got a job fixing cars to learn how to and pay for it. I got to drive a restored muscle truck to prom. it was a 4 year restoration that cost more then $14,000 at age 18 in 2012. I plan to keep the truck and are currently looking into the Scion FRS as a second car. and on a more upsetting note my grandfather used to own one new when he was my age and he passed away 2 years into the project and I take huge sentimental value in that.

I know you said 1 photo but its hard to show a before and after without a couple.
These photo’s are more for the community then they are for you johniwanna but i understand your message.

My names Chris. This is my 1984 Volkswagen Jetta Gli. I grew up racing go karts and hare scrambles, then moved to midgets then SCCA IT racing. I graduated HS and went in tthe Army and spent 1997-2004 in the 75th Ranger regiment(2nd batt 98-00 then 1st batt 00-04). From fall of 2003 I started working at the VW dealer and from 03-07 I was at the dealer, then I moved to a couple high profile shops in the DC/MD/Va area. Then I left for Hawaii to be with my wife. I grew up around VW’s and such, so I was always getting in them and working on them, etc. My first car was an 82 Rabbit S…I had it for a very long time, even through a couple dozen other cars lol.

I’ve owned the Gli for 11 years, along many other(over 20) MKI’s, and a handful or so of other platform VW’s, Audi’s and Porsches and a couple BMW’s.

It is a total sleeper, all done in my garage by myself or with a close friend of mine. here is a vw forum build thread i did…it’s long lol.

My 1984 GLi 20vBT sleeper

synopsis… I had to fabricate most everything and the details are killer. There are 5 platforms of gti/gli in my car lol. The setup was though of in 2005, but i ended up collecting parts from a couple years, then I moved to Hawaii from DC. Flew back in mid November of 2008 and spent 5 weeks taking the car from stock, to a full first ever “Early Westy” front end swap, pulled hte interior, fitted the harness and wired it up, put in the drive by wire throttle pedal, and started on the new brake setup.

Made mounts to fit the motor in trans in the car, made intercooler piping for the AWIC setup we built. I ordered a ton of 304 16g Stainless and viands from Burns Stainless t build the exhaust and dump, etc. All of this was hand TIG’d in the garage at home. I ended up getting it done with two and a half days until my wife arrived and we had to drive cross country to ship the car to Hawaii since I moved there. I did 1400 miles in rain and snow just before xmas with no interior lol. Just a cluster and boost gauge ziptied to the steering column so I could break in the clutch motor and so on. needless to say i only had one hiccup right before we left( originally my buddy made an intake manifold for the car…i popped it when i turned up from 10psi waste gate pressure to 18psi…had to pull it and redo it the night before we left lol.

and sooo much more…so many little things…

Bunch of stuff to go over but the build thread is awesome. Lots of doubts, people back in 07/08 thought the turbo was too big then they said it wouldn’t make 400whp…i make 475whp on 92 pump. I’ve been dailying it ever since. It’s quite the sleeper lol. It weighs 1976lbs with my pack, pistol, laptop, breaker bar, large safety bag with first aid kit, and full tank of fuel.

Here are some Pics!!

My modded 1993 GMC Typhoon #0024.

2200 built by PAS. 4.3 turbo AWD. There is a long story regarding my acquisition of the beast but that is for another time. Here she is.

They need to be tossed back in forza 5!

Quick look at my 2010 Nissan GT-R. Bought it in late 2009, and have put it through many stages of upgrades. Car is mainly a track car but is street drivable. Just recently did the aero upgrades last year, as well as replacing the turbos and rebuilding the motor. Holds a track record at a track opened last year in upstate New York, New York Safety Track.

This is my first car, a 2003 zinc yellow Mach 1 Mustang. When I first stumbled upon this car it seemed to good to be true. This Mustang was taken care of by its last owner. It was so clean inside and out, every car I had looked at before was treated so badly, it was a miracle. It drove even better, like it had only 20 thousand miles on it. This car looks and sounds amazing. Even today I’m still in disbelief that I found such a great car.

My ZO6Dear Johniwanna,

This is my 2002 ZO6. This is My fourth Corvette. I had a 1966 327 roadster with a 4-speed and Hurst shifter with both a hard top and soft top. I had a 1973 350 roadster with a turbo 400, and both tops, also. And I had a 1981 350 T-Top with a turbo 350. I had the first three at the same time, but unfortunately I had to sell them, the 1981 first, then the 1966. Then I traded the 1973, with some cash, to my son for the ZO6. It has headers, Borla exhaust, K&N air intake system, Hurst shifter, racing seats, 5-point racing harnesses, and a red roll bar. It also has 18" front and 19" rear wheels, wrapped with Michelins. My son also had the top, back, and stripe black vinyl wrapped. This car is very fast and a whole lot of fun to drive. You can also see other shots of it in my storefronts in Forza 2,3,4,and 5. The best shots are on Forza 5. I also have a lot of fun driving my ZO6 on the Forza games. Thank you for this opportunity to show it off.

thanks again

John

My beast Ford Contour SE DOHC 24 Valve yea buddy!!! JDM style door, very solid. I paid $400,000 looking to trade for a Bugatti or something of equal value serious inquires only! Enjoy

In all seriousness this is my race/show car. Its a 1970 Mark Donohue Javelin (Mostly Original) It has its original engine 360 V8. It came with a t11 auto tranny, I currently installed t12 auto tranny from an AMX. I bought this car almost 25 years ago, sold it and bought the same car back about 5 years ago. The design was done by a family member about 4 years back. This has been a very fun car. Sorry I don’t have any engine pictures, they are kind of old photos. I will take some more when it comes out of the garage. Also sorry for the poor picture quality and it was in need of a bath at the time makes it look a little faded. But all in all still a very interesting car. I believe there was only 2501 Mark Donohue cars made and here is one:

Its Not for me, but my Neighbors 11’ GMC
427 ci
awd
106mm turbo
A/C stock interior
purrs like a catnip infused Kitteh at idle
will yank your G meter to bits on awd boost take off
Its running at 6lbs boos right now, but will be @ approximately 30 when done, with methanol injection and a tickle of nitrous.
its faster than a Veyron to 60 mph…yes a Veyron…per timeslip from Houston Raceway park
Everyday driver
nuff said?

- YouTube. forgive the quality of the vid, it was a shakedown cruise and deceptively slow looking, if i panned back the camera, and left it static, you would get a better sense of speed
will post more as its done Three6GMC for his channel
thanks!
Peace

Thank you guys for letting me share my story.

Last year I picked up this beautiful 1981 Chevrolet corvette. The car was originally a vegas car for the first 20 years of its life. Originally the car was polo white until changed by the second owner who bought it and brought it up here to the great white north aka Canada in Ontario. The man who bought it decided that the car would definitely look sharp in black sporting its beautiful red leather interior. As he got older he sold it to a man from Winnipeg Manitoba. But after time his children had grown up and he sold the car for his children’s college tuition. This is the point that I have taken ownership of the car. The Vette gets shined up on a regular basis and has been in many car shows since I have had it. She doesn’t have the most power. This vette has a 350ci(5.7L) v8 putting out roughly 200hp but its enough for cruising. I didn’t even have the vette for 2 weeks and decided it wasn’t loud enough, now the Vetter is sporting obx side pipes and headers. I have many plans yet for her but will take it one mod at a time. I absolutely enjoy every minute of driving and hope to for many years to come.

Being a Nissan employee and a car junkie pretty much my whole life, I always had a thing for modding… A little over 3 years ago when my son was born everything stopped, parts sold, my project at the time was turned into baby mode, and all I had was the virtual world of Forza and it’s community to keep my gear-head withdrawals at bay. As my son was grew and finances started to ease down I decided to get a real project car something that will get back to the roots of my love for Nissan, but at the same time something that wasn’t overly conspicuous as a “fast car” to the average eye… Not soon after I came across an unmolested bone stock down to the original cassette player SR20DE powered 2 owner 1996 Infiniti G20 unicorn(what I mean by this is it was the pearl white, with black sport leather interior, 5spd trans with limited slip a rare combination of which only about 2000 or so were made) from NY. For those of you familiar with this car would now it was sold in the overseas market as the “Nissan Primera” and it was used in the 90s at the JTCC and BTCC circuits, it’s German design front multi-link suspension coupled with the independent rear arms, made it an animal on the track.
With the car finally in my possession the modding bug hit, and hit hard. I found a local performance shop which specializes in the SR20 platform Marsh Tuning (currently holds the record for the fastest Naturally Aspirated front wheel drive SR20 powered car in the United States, so I knew I was in good hands. Then the tear down began ideas got tossed around and after a few unsuccessful build-ups on my part of not listening to their advice I finally have a fun street car that handles like a dream and is fun to drive.

Thanks in advance for the consideration,
SR20 PWRD

Car: 2003 Toyota Celica GT-S

I bought this car in 2003 to replace my 2000 Toyota Celica GT-S when it got totaled in an accident not of my own making. The car had all of 5 miles on it and stayed stock grand total of 2 weeks and that was only because a hurricane blew through 3 days after I bought it. This car has been a labor of love for me…and was also a love lost in 2006 and it took me 8 years to get back, thankfully it was well cared for while not in my possession.
