1st place win on Expert VS Podium finish on Unbeatable

I’m currently still on the career campaign, and basically what I’m curious about, is which is more beneficial and would yield more credits in your opinion…

1)Race against the AI and finish the race in 1st place, but difficulty is set to either Expert or Pro?

2)Race against the AI and finish the race with a podium finish, getting either 2nd or 3rd, but the difficulty is set to Unbeatable?

Obviously getting 1st on Unbeatable is preferable to either one, but lets face it, the AI simply trolls on some of these tracks/events.

You could probably set these scenarios up in Free Play and see what the difference in payouts are.

Edit: Something else to keep in mind. Race length will also play heavily into the amount of credits you can earn per race.

Every increase in difficulty nets you a 20% bump in total credits earned which is calculated from race length and number of drivatars on the track. Your finishing position has a very minimal effect on the overall payout so racing against higher difficulty settings will net you more credits regardless of finish position.

The fastest way to earn credits is high percentage mod cards that restrict you in ways you already play coupled with unbeatable difficulty and long races (usually 15-20 minutes each). This will net around 150,000-200,000 credits per race with a 250-270% set of three mod cards. FE cars can increase this again if you have one that’s useful in the class.

Always do long races (around 7 laps for most GP layouts) with unbeatable and +80% or higher credit mods. You’ll net a hefty sum every race no matter finish position.

With long races and unbeatable you can have more of a traditional race where more thought can be placed with passing.

I don’t usually have much of a problem with AI except on long beach. You can adjust their aggression though.

Also, AI in career are faster than free play. I don’t know why but every time I’ve played free play, unbeatable seem to forget where the gas peddle is located.

Excellent advice RPM! Though i must admit I’m already ahead of you, because I’ve only been doing long or extra long races :slight_smile:

For the record, I just won the Forza driver’s cup and all I have now are the Elite races.

Here’s the thing though…I prefer to come in 1st or at least 2nd place when I race the AI. I also find I have more fun racing them and can usually win on Pro. If it’s a race where they’re obviously trolling(coughRoad Americacoughcough*) then I bump it down to expert or Highly Skilled.

Question…If I were to continue losing several races in an event on unbeatable and come in say, 4th or 5th place, I won’t win the event and will fall behind in points. Can you or anyone tell me if a 2nd place finish in all races within an event would yield a 1st place overall victory for the event’s championship? If so, I could maybe keep it on unbeatable and go for 2nd instead of third.

Great question that I wondered about too, but never bothered to test. I will race exclusively in unbeatable now. I’ll just have to stop using the mods that require a win!
