Xbox One S Controller via Bluetooth No rumble and Impulse triggers

My question is does impulse triggers work in Forza 6 Apex via Bluetooth connection with newest Xbox One S Controller ?

For now I do not have any rumble work in game, one time worked after received bonus car from Forza Hub but also without impulse triggers, now nothing no any rumble :frowning:

I also updated firmware in controller to the latest in Xbox Accesrories App nothing helped.

For me only work via USB Cable :frowning: rumble and also impulse trigger work fine, so this should be fast fixed for Bluetooth connection, also Xbox Accesories application do not see controller connected via Bluetooth.

I would see if there is a driver update to whatever Bluetooth hardware your PC has to rule that out as a possible cause.

I have latest Bluetooth driver for my Bluetooth on my Asus Z170 Deluxe board. This is not driver problem but firmware in controlller or game problem.

I installed latest windows 10 driver for my bluetooth device (2.1 bluetooth version) because of the new Xbox One S Controller and the result is there is no any kind of rumble :frowning:

It’s a bug in game, I had same situation sometimes I had rumble sometimes not, most time not, of course when rumble was working via Bluetooth there was no impulse triggers.

Wish I would have seen this before I went out and bought one of these new controllers. Real disappointed that there’s no rumble over Bluetooth in this game, part of why I bought it was for the trigger vibration and wireless built in… Good grief! Is it the same for other UWP stuff?

I really hope Forza Horizon 3 doesn’t ship with the same issue.

Exaclty, we will see in Forza Horizon 3 how it will be work triggers rumble via Bluetooth if not I will sold this controller and will back to Xbxox 360 controller.

Recently got an Xbox One S bluetooth controller specifically for FM6: Apex. Updated and synced, only to discover there’s no force feedback when using this controller. Sure wish I’d seen this forum thread ealier!
Really appreciate the post, though, StrangeCargo71. Saved me hours of fruitless internet searching for a solution that apparently doesn’t exist (yet).

Aug 29, 2016 Update:
After experiencing no force feedback using the white Xbox One S bluetooth controller several days ago, I tried again last night. Surprisingly, the rumble motors were working this time. Force feedback worked as I would expect, based on my experience with other Forza titles on Xbox. I didn’t make any Apex setting changes. The only pc change I’m aware of was a routine Windows 10 Anniversary update that was installed prior to re-trying the force feedback issue. Very odd!

Does anyone have other UWP games to test if vibration works over BT?

Would be nice to know if it’s a Forza specific issue or Windows platform issue. Vibration seems to work on wireless bt in normal xinput games not from the Windows store, but none of those support the impulse triggers afaik.

Vibration work fine in other games via Bluetooth. Only in Forza 6 Apex are not working as should, sometimes work sometimes do not work, also if they work there is not working impulse triggers.

After the latest update, the impulse triggers on the S controller still aren’t working over wireless bluetooth in Forza Apex. And general vibration seems to occasionally be functioning at random.

So just as it was.

Well, it’s been a month now since this was first reported and it is still an issue.

I think it’s a safe bet that Forza Horizon 3 is going to ship with the same flaw. Cool.

It’s only been 9 days but you were right.

9 days?

Check original poster’s timestamp and the replies in this thread above. #1 Posted : about a month ago - #10 Posted: 29 days ago. That’s far more than 9 days :stuck_out_tongue:

So are you confirming that this is also an issue in Forza Horizon 3 then? Boo! There are so many other problems being reported right for the PC version, I can’t imagine something smaller like this getting any attention.

Do microsoft ever fix anything??

Matt

In Forza Horzion 3, try to use the Forza Hub in the game menu to switch to desktop. And you’ll get the rumble back after you switch back to the game.

This is still a problem with the 2016 Xbox controllers and Windows 10. I have the latest firmware on my controller. I am using the “Xbox Controller + Cable for Windows” with a copyright date of 2016 on the packaging. Playing via USB, it’s fantastic - impulse controllers are strong, rumble over grass/rocks is great.

As soon as you switch to wireless Bluetooth:

  1. The general game controls are fine. All the buttons work, are fairly responsive, etc.
  2. Vibration and rumble do not work at all unless you Alt-tab out of the game and then go back into it. It’s like you have to drop to desktop temporarily and then return to the game for it to start any sort of force feedback, which is buggy behavior.
  3. Vibration is limited to simple rumble which feels weak and not very specific to what you’re doing. Go offroad, it rumbles a bit until you go back onroad. It doesn’t react at all to the power of your car, how fast you’re going, etc. It’s like a simple setting of “we’re off road, so rumble a bit”. The rumble itself is very weak. Compared to my old wired X360 controller for Windows, Bluetooth on the 2016 XB controller feels like it’s at 25% power.

As soon as you plug the controller back into USB, it’s immediately recognized and rumble is fantastic. Impulse trigger rumble is great - you can feel the rumble when you brake hard for instance. Really a great addon to the game, but sadly as I said it doesn’t work AT ALL in Bluetooth mode.

Bottom line, if you want the controller to work wirelessly, you won’t get decent force feedback nor impulse trigger vibration. All you’ll get is a vague rumble that feels weak.

Yeah, impulse trigger vibration and more still doesn’t work over bluetooth in these games, and it’s such a niche issue that no one will probably ever fix it.

Whether it’s the fault of the game, Xinput API, drivers and bluetooth support, Microsoft is the one that has to do something about it. I’ve talked to online support and notified them of these issues in this brand new controller I bought and after a lot of back and forth mandatory troubleshooting that obviously never resolved anything, all they had to say to me in the end was talk to phone / chat support about it. Like that would make any difference! Just go through the same BS again to no end.

I gave up hoping for a fix. Just sticking with the USB tether for good. Sucks but there’s nothing we can do.
