I am now the proud owner of an xbox one and can’t understand why I need to download an app to play DVDs or Blue Rays. Why does it take forever for it to install?
Because PCs need apps to do anything.
Any slow issues today are due to xbox live being hacked.

hack implies people should be concerned their data may have been taken, and should take the usual precautions if so.
DDoS just floods the machine with traffic so no one else can connect, eventually the machine falls over. Nothing was taken. There is a difference and people should know the difference. Misinformation causes panic.
Issues resolved. I disconnected from the net to install disc games and didn’t realise the ability to choose what live content to install or not.
