I’d love 2TB in my Series X but upgrading with a whole new console doesn’t make sense. Too bad Microsoft doesn’t allow us to upgrade the SSD ourselves. It’s hard too because the entire Series X needs to be disassembled. The SSD is the very last component you unscrew which is ridiculous.
Or perhaps allow us to send our console in for an SSD upgrade? Would be nice to consider especially if it also has higher read speeds (now ‘only’ 2400mb/s but current nvme’s are far superior).
I have 10 games installed and have 145GB left. FH5 takes up 170GB. With GTA 6 next year I doubt that will be enough to install it.
Hello @LuculentPigeon8 . Buy a storage expansion card. It’s approved by xbox officially . You can also install your non optimized games on an external storage.
There are several choices for capacity if you want more storage.
There are 2 brands available: seagate & western digital
It’s due to the nature of the SSD.
Afaik it’s not nvme hence the inability to replace and the reason for the expansion cards
Honestly I found it cheaper to just pick up an older out of date Xbox one external Hard Drive. Everywhere states that they are not compatible but reality is they are! It just wont be able to play series enhanced versions/save series exclusives on it. Which honestly admittedly there are not as many as you think at this current time.
When it says incompatible, it means you can’t play. It doesn’t mean you can’t store.
I solely mentioned that because it threw me off too when I was about to buy one of the expansion cards. I want to make sure its clear for others to understand as well.
And you can still play just not the series enhanced versions/series games…
Im using it currently on my series x. Store all the forzas that are not series focused on the older drives. So I can play them whenever.
Ok.
Usb2sata adapter and an internal SSD works for me. Have a number of them lying around with different games on them for my xsx
Don’t necessarily need an external drive
It’s just too much of a hassle for a company whose goal is to sell you a whole new console as often as possible.
