Working convertible top? Heck yeah!

What a joke. And you cant even use this at the same time you are driving (that was almost the whole point). Also, the amount of cars with convertible parts is so frikkin small… lol.

Can you show us how to remove roof of 918 Spyder when driving especially since you have to step out to do so? Can you show us how to do it on Portofino or 720S Spider without causing any damage?

You mean in real life? no i cant, i dont own those cars. But i can show you TONS of movies where it happens.

Please dont tell me that you really thought you had to be still in the car while removing the roof of a convertible car… and btw, the 918 Spyder doesnt have a convertible roof IN GAME. The Portofino does not either. Oh wait, you nailed the last one, yes the 720s has a convertible roof. Why in hell would that cause damage?? did you even look at the tiny idiotic animation?? damage? wtf you talking about??? lol.

You can’t get the roof off a 918 without getting out of the car as it is a detachable roof, not one that opens. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wt4wwkT3DY
I can imagine that the same dude who brings over your new cars in an instant also just comes over during the black screen and quickly takes it off. Seems legit.

Both the 918 and the Portofino have a working roof in game as far as I know.

And lastly: You are right, there are modern convertibles that can be opened while driving, but still at relatively low speeds.

The “damage” ArcticInsanity is talking about is your roof catching wind and ripping off (or at least contorting), which will definitely happen at high speeds, although cars have protection systems so you cannot drive fast and open the roof of course.

Also, the Zonda Cinque has the black screen when taking off the roof. In cars like the Portofino and the 720s where the car has a system where you just push a button to lower the roof, the animation is cool to have. But in cars like the Eggs and the Zonda, where you have to remove the roof manually, the black screen makes perfect sense.

The 918 without the roof is a joke. PGG did not check how it looks when the roof is off. If you take a look at the car from one of the sides, you will not see the opposite window.
Can’t believe they did not double check before releasing…

Why are the windows up on like 90% of the convertibles with tops that actually go down? It looks absolutely awful pn every single one of them. The Gallardo Spyder, the J50, the 720S Spider etc…

It’s a video game, we don’t need to reduce wind in the cabin… it’s bad enough that we still can’t remove targa and t-tops 5 games in.

Too my surprise (or better said, not surprise…) some cars dont even have animations lol. The screen fades off and then you see the car with the convertible part in place. Really??? i just hope the devs didnt have to invest too many efforts and time adding this “feature”. Its beyond ridiculous.

It’s really sad that 5 games in, they still haven’t created proper convertible/window/headlight systems… even though a game like TDU2 had them 11 years ago.

Seriously, the Gallardo and the J50 look SO dumb with their windows up and tops off.

I’ve been wondering more and more why the AMG One’s active aero is treated like a convertible top in this game. At first I thought it was a bug, but I’m not sure how it could be. The One isn’t a convertible/roadster nor a targa and it’s one of only five cars that have this function outside of Forzavista.

I’d like to resurrect this topic for a moment to say “Thanks!” to PG for making the effort to start this process of converting, well, convertibles. I knew it was happening, but hadn’t really followed to see what stage they were at, so I’ve only just had a drive around with the roof off the Porsche 918, and it’s fantastic. OK, so the windows don’t go down, and there’s no animation of the roof panels floating into their storage bay (??), but those could be finessing items for FH6. Personally, I don’t think they’re important, but maybe others feel strongly about it.

I wouldn’t have considered sacrificing future convertible updates because some felt additional changes were required beyond what’s already shown in Forzavista. I’d happily drive the Toyota MR2, C7 Corvette Z06 or '77 Trans Am with the roof off and not think twice about how the pixels reconfigured.

Of course, PG have advised they won’t be continuing this process, and I think that’s a shame since it does bring a very welcome experience to FH5, and it was awesome to see that progress from when I first started playing FH2. I hope this is something that’s reconsidered in the future; obviously there are more pressing issues that require attention right now, but I’m certain there are many other players grateful for the work on this done so far.

If it is resumed, it would be great to see a few cars like the Ferrari F50, Porsche Carrera GT or even Lotus Elan Sprint remodelled to include removable roof panels too… Wishful thinking under the current circumstances, but just throwing it out there.

Don’t be so quick to congratulate PG. I was just looking at the “known issues” list, and guess what I found listed in their “won’t fix” category?

“Cars - Convertible feature does not work in free roam for some cars such as the Honda S2000, Mazda mx5 2016, Mazda mx5 2013, and Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG (Date Updated:01.10.22)”

So, after years of waiting for functional convertible tops, PG has decided to NOT finish fixing the convertible bug in FH5. Un-freaking-believable! The stupid (yes, stupid is an appropriate word here) part about all of this is that they actually DID fix at least 2 and maybe 3 cars that had the convertible top bug, but they won’t apply that fix to the remaining 4 convertibles. I know these cars are capable of this feature, because when you get in free roam, the mini-hud (left stick) that operates the top tries to load. I want to know why they won’t finish the fix on the rest of the cars. Unfortunately, I am also pretty certain that I’ll never find out, because PG has no bloody clue about how to communicate with it’s player base.

So, here’s to PG…one of the worst game developers in the current market. Thanks for ruining my game experience and not following through with a promise you made to us. A rubbish company that put out a rubbish game. Hope you are proud of yourselves. I would say more, but MM probably would not appreciate my choice of language, so I’ll keep it to myself.

Allowing roof retraction while driving also doubles as hybrid air brake system…

Hey, All. Not sure how active this thread is, but I wanted to bring up something I’m sure a few people have thought of. I hope playground will patch in the convertible function for vehicles that have been in the game previously, such as several of the corvette’s and many more vehicles that have removable parts in forzavista but not gameplay. It’s really disappointing that it can’t be done currently.

Yes!

Also the Jeep Wrangler needs to be able to have the top removed like the new Bronco.

Its 2024 the updates are amazing and the 2013 and 2016 MX-5 and SLK55 and S2000 are still on the wont fix list how stupid!
