why you say “they removed” like they did it to hurt you? did you ever think that maybe game performance could not cope with 2x everything happening in the same box?
If you are talking about the physics, then no. It is being run for every car in the field. I don’t know off the top of my head what the maximum field size for FM7 is, but I am sure it is a number much larger than 2.
If you are talking about rendering the graphics, then still no. Each view in split screen has 1/2 the pixels, so it is still rendering the same number of pixels. It may take more power to render two half screen scenes than one full screen, but nowhere near 2x.
A full featured split screen is still a lot of work, so I don’t expect much on that front, but I would love to see local 2 player or even 4 player. There is a real market for couch play (coop and competitive) unfortunately for those of us on XBox it seems that Nintendo is the only company that pays any attention to it.
Trends in gaming. That’s the most likely explanation. Back in the day we had no choice but to play split screen or same screen co-op/head to head. These days with the overwhelming majority of gamers using online services to play multiplayer, the much larger proportion of their player base either uses the game solo or through Xbox Live. The development time on split screen reflects this. They’ve been making this game for 12 years now. They know where the money is.
I’m a PC/Xbox360 player. I still play forza 4 for one reason. Split Screen. I have three way more advanced racing sims on my PC, but none of then has split screen and racing against friends who are in the same room is fun. My friend has an x-box one with Forza 6 and to be honest, the split screen mode in forza 6 suck a little. Both the Ai and cockpit view are a must. And it’s like this. I will check out Forza 7 and if the splitscreen is good I’ll buy the ultimate version for PC right away. If it’s not good I will not buy it at all. I simply don’t see the point, because I already have two sims that are at least as advanced.
Please T10, bring PC gamers split mode. I have my PC connected to a TV and I would like to play with friends in my house. It´s more funny if we play at the same place than each one on their house. I don’t find a reason to not bringing us split mode. Adapt it from Xbox One, please.
I’m hoping for some improvements in FM7, such as adding the 1/4-mile drag racing courses and cockpit view back in for 2-player split screen. 3-4 player split screen would be even cooler (I have 3 controllers) but I doubt that will happen, unfortunately.
Here’s hoping they don’t forget the split-screeners!
This is generally one of the first things I look at when i start the new game for the first time. Split screen has been appalling in FM5 and FM6, without AI it lacks excitement even when you are evenly matched.
I would hope that split screen will feature both day/night and weather as well as AI. However if processing power is the issue I would much rather have a fully customisable AI than dynamic weather.
Im not holding much hope though, split screen nowadays is an after thought in games in favour of online gimmicks like Hot wheels and Hoonigan. I have been disappointed for the last few FM’s I fully expect to be disappointed again.
I read an article with roumours of no split screen support on the PC version. Is this realy true?
It woud be so sad for the PC community. There are many other titles supporting this. Titles like Black Ops 3 or Rocket League and I was looking forward to it.
Split Screen is visible in the gameplay with Bill Giese. So i can confirm that it will be in FM7, I imagine splitscreen will have been completely remade for FM7
I love split screen. I enjoy setting up some AI (or not) and racing my buddies in the same room. Obviously also having some AI is preferred but not having it isn’t the end of the world.
I would be all for having toned down graphics or daytime, dry weather only for split screen as long as the physics don’t get compromised.
