Eagle’s so bad I’d rather have 19 tracks. That way it wouldn’t show up in rotation during free play.
Amongst the basket of embarrassments that this game has released with, claiming 20 tracks and including Eagle Rock in that count is got to be towards the top.
IMO it’s not a terrible track, but there’s a reason that real race car drivers dislike it.
It doesn’t flow at all
It gets abused by a driver’s cutting corners
Dive bombing at the end of the straights.
It just doesn’t make for good racing. Additionally, not that the AI need another reason to drive like turtles, but they seem to really struggle and get in each other’s way on this track even more than others. And I think it’s because of some of the tight turn which they always struggle to navigate.
And here in the States we’re “lucky” enough to have COTA, which is basically Yas Marina in the middle of Texas.
Daveyskills! where has this guy been? the #1 driver in Forza gone after Forza 4 I think used to have #1 times on Nurburgring on all Forza and PGR games
Anyway, yeah I agree why have Yas Marina WHEN Hakone looks EXACTLY like Yas Marina anyway - I say DELETE Hakone and put Fuji or Tskuba
Ultimately, I agree… Yas Marina is one of my least favorite tracks.
My guess is it has to do with the development process they’ve already done and how close to finished a track might already be.
To be perfectly honest, I’d hope that they’ve got the next couple months tracks already done and planned for release. All the voting may do is tell them that they need to shift focus on a track already in progress that’s hugely desired more than the rest.
I’d guess it takes a fair amount of time to negotiate permission to laser scan a track, settle the logistics and get it modeled.
If it were extremely cynical, I might think that all the voting achieves is informs Turn10 which tracks to hold out on for marketing sake to build a hype or maybe put behind some paywall to get more money… LOL
Yas isn’t among my favorites. I didn’t aee it in the voting either nut I wouldn’t have voted for it. COTA is a fun track for me. Bathurst is just one notch above VIR on the hate list for me. Australia has a plethora of great tracks, why is Bathtubring so popular? But seeing them bring in new tracks even if its Yas or Bathtubring is at least a small positive step.
Pardon me but, never played any FM previous this new one, Yas is that hated? I can’t wait to have a new track but seen this is one of the most hated, just seems more appealing to me xD
who knows, probably I’ll jump in the bandwagon hate after trying it. or not.
Honestly, I don’t hate it. It’s not my favourite, that’s for sure, but to say I hate it is too much.
Many people dislike it as the layout is drawn by a ruler, it doesn’t have a great flow to it in comparison to a more old-school track. Saying Tilke made it is a bit misplaced. Yes he makes a lot of circuits that have a ruler drawn cookie-cutter shape, but he has greats like Istanbul Park and Bilster Berg too.
EDIT: There’s also the little known Magarigawa Club in Japan.
yes a handful are good, i personally like COTA but if he makes 20 at max 2 are good and also he has ruined many classics. So the success rate of Tilke is like xbox game releases.
yas has terrible flow and all the turns amount to ‘come to a near stop to hit the apex and accelerate out until the next turn, repeat’. it’s far from the only track with this problem, indeed most modern gp tracks have this issue including formerly great tracks that got totally ruined (fuji, hockenheim), but yas marina takes it to an extreme that really no other track does. it’s carefully calculated tedium.
Yas Marina isn’t my favorite, but it is a welcome addition to the teeny track list. Hopefully Turn 10 will also pad the track list by adding more configurations with the tracks that are in the game, and have optional routes mostly drawn. As an example it would be nice to have the old version of Catalunya along as an option to new layout.
It was quite a day when R2PKimiMatt passed him and took over first. I made him a custom paint on the f50GT. Some of those guys were unreal. General E live was one of my favs as well, he ruled PGR3.
I loved the overall leaderboards. I managed to get into the top 250. I think it was having to post times to 1000 individual track / class combo’s.
