This is next gen… Honestly .
Why does the game have to unload and reload the track when all I want to do is change cars? We all love watching that stupid symbol go round and round In the bottom corner.

The game is full of that. My biggest disappointment with Xbox One / Forza 5 is loading. You spend more time in the menu than racing unless you do free play with many laps. It reloads for everything to make it even worse. Going back to change cars and change a tune then loading the track is like 2-3 times the time of the race itself.
I don’t know if console users are just ok with that / used to it, but it was the one real improvement I was hoping “next gen” would bring and I honestly think F4 loads between races faster. They should have used hybrid drives at minimal to allow you to set priority to the games you are using most to increase load times. Hopefully in 2-3 years they will come out with an Xbox One Slim or something that has a 512gb SSD.
In career mode, I like to try different cars from race to race. Check them out…see the different interiors…enjoy the different handling characteristics.
As it stands, you basically end up trapped in a car between races and have to load the entire next event before you can change vehicles!
The current setup is: you finish a race…you can only “continue” and it sends you to the next race. You can’t even go to the car select menu until the next race loads and you can then “exit” to get a different vehicle and then wait to RELOAD the exact same race you had to exit.
With the load times in this game, it is a pain. Am I missing something? Wouldn’t it make sense to allow racers an option to change car BEFORE you sit through a prolonged loading screen for the next event?
Thoughts?
Yes the menu structure and the lack of a simple interface to select cars, buy cars, tune cars (and make changes between events) is a baffling omission from a studio that has been making this same game for a decade.
I also like changing up my cars, I used to never race the same car twice in a row. Now it is too much of a pain to switch cars after each race, so I just deal with it. It is frustrating, but once you complete a series and start doing the bonus races, it takes you back to the menu after each race. At least that way you don’t have to load the same race twice.
Choose Restart instead of Continue, then you can choose Quit quicker.

Still a half ***ed way to do it. It should be simpler and quicker, considering this is a “next-gen” console. However there isn’t much about the Xbox One that is seeming “next-gen” at this point. Party system is jacked, initial loading of games takes FOREVER, updates take FOREVER (if they take at all) and the load times for menu’s etc should be quicker and more intuitive.
This and a number of other interface shortcomings have been brought up a number of times. I hope to see them addressed as well.
