The only “no collision” races they have is C class, which gets old very fast. They have every single class for collision mode. Why is this? Its extremely irritating! I realize they have leagues but that’s only one class as well, and not permanent since they switch every week.
In the perfect world they should focus mainly on contact racing with features that make it enjoyable for those who want proper racing. I am confident a lot of those features are already wishlisted in the correct thread
In the imperfect gaming community as it is now, we sadly probably need more ghosted lobbies.
I tend to agree with you, some of the most fun I’ve had online was in ghost leagues, but this brings us back to what SatNiteEduardo posted earlier in the thread
The problem I have with collision races is that its NOT realistic. Forza is all about simulation I understand that, but its far from that when you have uncontrollable teammates ramming into one another. That’s very irritating and far from being the “real” thing. Ghost races should be more prevalent than collision races. It’s about raw skill and tuning (what makes the game fun) not who can avoid being blown off the track by some 10 year old.
A matter of opinion really. There are many who believe racing includes some incidental contact, and that negotiating the track AND opponents is the REAL challenge.
In my opinion, ghost races more prevalent would be dumbing down the game and turning into more of an arcade racer and less of a sim (it isn’t a sim now and doesn’t claim to be). In my opinion, if you want to just race ghost, you might as weill just race in free play with no opponents.
Those are just MY opinions though, and we are all entitled to those.
Ghost races have problems too. 50% of the people cutting corners.
I think whe will see in fm6 no solution. The only way I see, is to introduce time penalty for current races or dsq after 3rd corner cutting or hard contact and grid penalty for the following race. That’s maybe sometimes unfair but teach people to drive fair. At the moment there is simply anarchy in the fm land.
I fall 100% on the pro collision side. I prefer being on someone’s bumper for a number of laps trying to find a way around them. There is nothing that can compare to a last lap, close racing, small contact battle to the end where the place you came in means very little. I love those teeth grinding tight corners where you are door-to-door with another racer, where both players respect each others space guaranteeing another close battle in the next turn.
I had an amazing race with a guy yesterday at Monza in the Nascar hopper. Out of the 12 lap race our last 6 laps was a constant battle for 1st. Seemed like every other turn we passed each other, we were bumping and grinding the last 2 or so laps (once causing a minor crash) but it was close right to the end. After the race the “good race’s…” and “I’m sorry for’s…” started flying back and forth.
Problem is your first paragraph where you say “both players respect each other”.Thats the 1% of races.99 % of people in lobbies have no respect for each other and because there are no penalties for sending someone into a wall to overtake them it breeds payback. Its a neverending circle of rage and anger in most lobbies.UNLESS you are first and can get a big lead into first corner so you dont get punted.
Ghost racing is hot lapping with friends with no rewind off. (Should be penalties for cutting and dirty laps as that what it is)
It’s fun! It is a race, it’s great for trying out tunes and seeing the strengths and weakness of a car/build to another.
Collision racing is racing as we know it in real life. Problem is in real life you need licenses, test and can lose that license if you act like a moron and damage other people’s property or lives. Clearly not replicated in game
Collision racing is racing. Find friends and race or accept what it is. It is the best feeling in the world to have close battles (regardless of position) I highly suggest it and doing random lobbies with a good attitude can yield to finding new friends and have good results. (Prefer leagues) but it is what it is. A bunch of randoms- so anything is possible and wrecks are probable
Just do the weekly ghost one if you want to do those; they can’t make a ton of lobbies because no one uses them in numbers. It’s a catch 22. Terrible racing etiquette = less people= less choice in lobbies to make lobbies seem like there are more people.
That why I learned to race so I can keep up with those that know how to. Although it seems like it, I don’t agree with the 1% bit concerning Nascar multiplayer, the majority of racers I’ve had races with over the last week have been good, I’ve noticed the best way to prevent anger and rage it so race better yourself. I never try and squeeze into a tiny space between a car and the curb, I will wait for an opening to pass the guy ahead of me which gives me an idea of how he races and which can allow me to pass him without issue because I waited and watched. When another player is close, I constantly check where he is through the rear view mirror ( cockpit view) or the camera angles via right thumb stick. If it looks like he already has the inside, I give him space. if it’s the outside he wants, I’ll go tight on the inside.
Perhaps this is because of the increased number of laps, since there is more laps there is more time, no one is rushed to get one place ahead…well most anyways.
Nascar is the only hopper I play now, I haven’t played the others since before the Super Trofeo event, tried it a couple times but it’s garbage. Even if all the ramming and corner cutting was taken out, it will still be crap, not much fun when only specific cars win all the time. Which is another bonus of Nascar… all cars are more or less evenly matched.
I dont even need to read all the posts in this thread to know what soooo many people are feeling, why oh why is there no penalties for cutting the track, and also for those that may not cut the track but are just unskilled, why cant they be matched up with other unskilled’, away from me. Like seriously. Not many people out there have 23 friends online at all times willing to do private races!
There are “No Collision” races in every class…they’re called Rivals.
Learning how to negotiate around slower traffic without hitting them and being able to run side by side through certain corners is a skill you need to develop to be competitive online. A “Ghost League” race is basically just glorified hot lapping. The C Class ghost league and the Career should be considered tools to help you develop the skills you will need in the collision lobbies.
Leagues also usually run one ghost class every week. There are plenty of available options if you’re not comfortable running in full contact races.
