My opinion until FH3: Because it’s fun!

I mainly bought it for my son, i prefer Motorsport. Now, despite my son playing hundreds of hours of Horizon 4, and him now having his own console, he has only played Horizon 5 for 20 ish hours.
I have finished all the races and now im not going to play much until the expansion comes out. Still got value for my money, considering the both of us played 150 + hours thus far, but with my sons interest in Horizon 5 being this low and since he has the gamepass now, this will be the last Horizon i have bought.

It’s “free” on Game Pass and I played the last 4 titles.

As PC Gamer website put it in its review, it’s a nice game you go back to when you don’t have anything else to play.
I like having a collection of cars and managing it. When I was a kid, I used to have a huge collection of toy cars with more than 100 cars. Now I have virtual ones in every game I play.
I like the fun elements of the game the costumes silly dances car horns etc, and being able to tune you car by putting ridiculously powerful engines into cars like the BMW Isetta and with FH5 they have made XP farming easier with the auto steer.
Well, they’ve removed the only competitive part of the game. No ranked races.
But you can’t play FH4 tried team adventure atm and it’s crazy how much they messed up this game.
Fast travel 6 minutes and watching since 10 minutes the results. Fun part the list changed but race is over
It’s far from being my favorite game (far from being my favorite racing game while we’re at it), but it’s the perfect lazy weekend game.
I usually put a movie/podcast/album up and fire up the game up on the second screen and I’ll go for a round of Eliminator or just some lazy driving over the map
because i like open world car games and I GOT 3 FREE MONTHS of gamepass + spent 1 dollar to get one more month of ultimate and had the 1st three months converted to ultimate, resunting in 4 months of ultimate game pass for 1 dollar.
Despite the game’s flaws it is still the best open world racing game out there. There’s no real competition, the second best open world series is The Crew, which is miles behind Forza Horizon. Test Drive Unlimited 1 & 2 were good for their time, hopefully the upcoming version will be a serious contender to Horizon.
Why is Horizon the best? The map, despite being rather bland in FH5, is not terrible. Not as good as FH4’s but decent. The main draw for me is the cars, the selection is much more varied than most racing games. It’s not just supercars and the obvious classics that appear all the time, but things like the Ford Anglia, the Austin Healey Sprite, the Mercedes-Benz truck and the 80s Volvo box.
The weekly change of season was an important feature of FH4. The differences between seasons are less noticeable in FH5 but at least they bring new content. Often racing games only add new cars as payed DLC.
