Why do we still have 180 degree wheel turning?

I agree and as much as I would love to have full 900° rotation, unfortunately the emphasis is more on controller users, not wheel users and that’s probably why this animation has stayed the same.

Well, why can’t we have proper wheel animation even on a pad? Other games do it. But Forza has an advantage - they have implemented pad control so well, why not give proper wheel movement so that it feels even more authentic on pad? It’s doable but T10 don’t want to do it.

I still do not see what the pad has to do with it - they can give a multitude of options to adjust how the pad handles full wheel rotation in the cockpit view and include a default option for those who want to keep things the way they are now. It’s a major letdown, that’s all. The cockpits are beautifully detailed, the cam movement believable, but then these dull and fake-looking animations. Complete turn off.

Well now you can hide the wheel in cockpit view.

Yeah, they ran away from the issue quite conveniently.

I never noticed this in Forza 6. Thanks. Now I’ll be looking for it all the time.

Edit: Just went and watched a few videos of in car view. eh, it doesn’t bother me. But, I don’t drive with a wheel. It would bother me then.

At least they added the new cock pit view. That should help all you wheel drivers.

It’s honestly never really bothered me because I’m usually more focused on the road and the dash than how far over the animated hands are turning.

Great… thank you very much. Now they will probably never implement this in Forza. And I guess games that are already doing it like CARS, DR and AC are probably developed by a bunch of primates, right? I mean, why have proper wheel animation right? That would totally kill immersion and realism…

I dunno if the issues are related, but I have a feeling we still won’t be seeing full-3D cockpits then, either; the car will still be disappearing when looking left, right or backwards. Argh.

180 degree wheel rotation needs to go. Look at Dirt 4 or rally. Both are perfectly playable with a controller and they got more than 180 and hand over hand animation. Even full on arcade games like the crew got more than 180. And pls give us the option to adjust everything on the controller or wheel. Buttons, steering sensitivity, deadzone linearity etc. It is not that hard. Forza really needs to step up their game against all the new and good racing games this year. Dirt4, GT, PC2 etc.

Here is a video from me driving in Dirt 4. Yes, I am not that good, I know. But look at the animations. You got a way better feel over the car with better animations imo. and ofc it just looks better.

The more we talk about this the more attention it’s bound to get. That’s the problem - i.e. if enough people complain about the sound of a certain car, it finally gets fixed. If we get more folks on board T10 will have to address this. I honestly feel it breaks the immersion in cockpit view on so many different levels. If you ever try to drive a real car like this on a track, turning the wheel the way the driver does in cockpit view, you’d be kissing the barriers in no time.

Please people - contribute and raise your voice. We love our Forza but the developers have been really lazy with animations and it hasn’t really been bumped up since FM3! We don’t want arcade nonsense in Forza. The wheel animation MUST be fixed, it’s FM7 for crying out loud! And no more fly-swatting please - fix the paddle shifting animation too.

If you ever played iRacing; same 90 degree turning animations, You rarely go past 90 degrees when racing and even though the animation stops at 90 degrees, the car is still turning past this point. Not a big deal if you ask me

What?! Are you sure? I’m fairly certain the cockpit wheel moves with your gaming wheel, particularly for cars that have their actual wheel rotating past 180 degrees on either side.

Anyway, there’s no excuse - just because ONE sim racing company doesn’t do it, doesn’t mean Forza should follow their lead. This has been a requested feature ever since FM3 introduced the cockpit view and fans have been after T10 like crazy when proper wheel rotation animation didn’t make it to FM4 or 5.

I know you’re super focused on this one thing but I highly doubt that they are going to redo all of the hand to wheel animations for all 700 plus cars between now and launch to account for another 30 degrees or so animated hand spin on either side of the wheel. I’d rather they work on car physics to be honest.

Oh I’d love for them to make the physics more nuanced and model them 100% accurately for every car but tell me something - If there are 90 degree animations on either side for every car, and a few present for gear shifting animation, why can’t they modify code for 900, 720, 540, and 360 degree respectively? How complicated can that be really? Should have been done from the start frankly. I don’t like how Forza keeps leaning toward “casual” with every release.

When they add stuff like flappy windov-wipers, gearboxes and wing mirror for extra imersion in cockpit wiev, and at the same time DESTROYS all imersion with that 90 degree wheel animation there is somebody who has the wrong prioritys.

Why doesn’t the steering wheel animation in the cockpit view never turns more than 180 degrees. Other games have 720 degree animation. This may sound stupid but I just can’t take this game as a serious racing games like Assetto Corsa or Project Cars because the wheel just doesn’t turn realistically to me. The steering animations in F1 2015 and 2016 rotates further than Forza’s and those are F1 cars. I know some cars have faster steering racks but the animation is just lacking. I seen a video of someone playing Forza 7 and thought “they still haven’t added realistic steering animations.”, while this guy went into a drift. I think it’s cool to see especially when drifting using the in-car cockpit view. I really, really hope they add this to the game before it’s released. .

I agree 100%. I even made a post earlier about this very same subject. This is why I still cdbf take these games serious as a “sim” when it lacks something that’s so realistic. Project cars, Assetto Corsa, even F1 2015/2016 has more steering animations and those are Formula 1 cars. No matter how advanced they make the game it will always lack until they fix this. I pray they do before release because it’s so fake and annoying to look at.

I didn’t see any videos of anyone turning the wheel more then 90 degrees; care to share a link?

I’m sorry, when I said 180 degrees and posted the video link I meant 90 degrees left and 90 degrees right. Sorry bout that. Lol
