Why Could I Play Leagues Without XBX Live Gold Yesterday But Not Today?

My Xbox live gold subscription expired about 3+ months ago & yesterday I was able to play/race in the league events, but today when I click leagues it tells me I need xbox live gold… Roughly 2 months ago I was able to play leagues all month, then randomly the same thing happend.

Any info or input would be appreciated, thanks!

Guess you have been lucky
Unless you are on PC you shouldnt be able to play multiplayer on an xbone without xbox live gold…unless it was during a xbox live freeplay period

No PC here, just the Xbone. I don’t think it was a freeplay period as I had tired other games that wouldn’t let me play online. Very weird hah

I vaguely remember seeing a free play tab recently so I think you’re right.

If that’s not it then it’s an Xbox issue rather than FM7 issue

Now I can’t play a free game I had previously downloaded that I was playing just a few days ago. I looked up the date that my xbx live gold expired & it was in January 2018…[Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D]

games with gold on the xbone are only playable when you have a current xbox live gold subscription, they were only permanently yours when redeemed them on the xbox 360

Online play requires subscription, Move on ;).

A.) This is not new
B.) This is the “new” standard and has been for at least 4 years (minimum, depending on your point of view much longer)
c.) This is on all platforms (Sony started doing it with the PS4 in 2013, Nintendo online will start using this tactic starting 9/2018 with the Switch)

I haven’t seen anyone complain about my issue in particular. I understand you can’t play online without gold.

What made my situation different was that I had no problems playing league events for the past 1.5 months without an active xbox live gold subscription, then out of no where it stopped allowing me to play.

I’m not trying to make a sob story, was just posting to see if anyone had any info. I geuss I just got lucky for 1.5 months…damnit, shoulda bought a lotto ticket…

Happened to me before the launch of FM7as a mainly PC player,I have NEVER had gold,but I could go online in FH3,FM6,FH2 for some reason,but with the launch of 7 they seem to have “fixed” it.

Kinda annoys me that on FH3 and FM7 I need gold to play online with my xbox,but if I use my PC its free,ITS THE SAME SERVERS…

Microsoft want a decent market share on PC before making an Xbox live gold subscription required for online.

it’s a concession they have given to PC players to encourage them to buy the game to play on PC when other games on steam cost a lot less

After my gold ran out-I had a credit card that expired,they let me still have gold for over a month,untill I renewed again.They give you a little leeway,might be why you did not get canceled right away.
